Religion and philosophy assume different epistemologies.

Religion: Presuppose or assert a truth and accept only evidence that supports it.

Science: Examine all evidence and see what truth it leads to.

Philosophy: Pretty much the same as science but more often deals with unfalsifiable propositions that have to be accepted provisionally -- and/or is based on a handful of accepted "givens" (e.g., math, which is actually part of philosophy, not science, but is so reliably proven out as an accurate mirror of reality that it has great utility as the "language" of science).

The lines between the three were much more blurred before the modern scientific era (which I date basically from Newton) and before the Enlightenment, but religion has grown increasingly isolated from the others as humanity's overall commitment to empiricism, rationalism and naturalism has deepened as these things have given us increasingly accurate mental models of reality and produced so many useful innovations and inventions and improvements in the human condition.

Well, there's the philosophy of religion, LOL!

By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve so here is some information that might be helpful for dating here.

New members are encouraged to earn website points, and help other members get to know them better, by uploading a recent, clear photo of themselves, writing an informational profile that includes their hobbies and interests, and answering all the profile questions, since that's the first place many people look when they see a new member.

The website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.

Also many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find compatible partners.

People make comments and write their own posts to earn more points and privileges; for instance, at level two someone can private email people. There are different perks with each level, and when you reach level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

To find members near you, click on the "Meet" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Or click on the "About" button at the top of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.

Levels are mostly a way to help identify and reward those who contribute to the growth of the community. The website also gives more access and benefits depending on level.[agnostic.com]

Religion is a philosophy, albeit less informed that many philosophies.

I see religion as something that evolved along with man, going back maybe a million years. Hard to say for sure when man started thinking about where he came from. Its all been a search for truth, the problem lies in that Religion does offer some truth, but not all of the truth. And when people believe they have found truth, it closes their minds to discovering other truths. Hopefully with the help of the internet, Radicals will be exposed to the truth about evolution and gain an understanding that all men are brothers and all should be given respect, not out of a fear of a God, but as an understanding, and appreciation of evolution.
