I'm truly ashamed of what is taking place in this country right now. Anyone that paid any attention to Trump prior to 2016 knew what he was all about. It wasn't hard, the man has been in the public spotlight since forever. Which is why it blew my mind when he won the election. I literally thought there was no way he could win and when he did... I just couldn't believe it. Now we are seeing hypocrisy and lies on a scale never before witnessed in American politics. The hypocrisy is what gets me the most. I listened to the hard right conservatives rip into Obama for 8 years over the slightest things, and make no mistake; Obama wasn't perfect. But when Michelle Obama showed a little shoulder, Christian conservatives lost it. Yet they have no problem with an Immigrant amateur porn star/ model as the first lady. They place her on a pedestal. They cheer bakeries that refuse to bake cakes for homosexuals but lose it when a restaurant refused to serve a pathological liar. They crucified Obama over Iran and yet NK is still upgrading their nuclear facility. Many so-called Patriots claim a love of constitution but have no problem with Trump calling the Constitution a hindrance. They have no problem with his constant attack on the free press. How can many evangelicals that support Trump have no problem with him constantly preaching violence? His immigration policies run counter to any message found in the bible on how to treat immigrants. If Trump wants to make this nation great again why are his products and his families products still being manufactured in China, Pakistan, Mexico, etc? If he hates immigrants so much why does he import foreign labor on a regular basis or hire illegal immigrants and pay them below minimum wage? Yes, he donates his meager salary all the while raking in millions traveling to his resort and golfing regularly. Which I might add he constantly ripped Obama for golfing. I could go on but I just can't stand the hypocrisy. It's crazy watching the Christian right support so many things that are counter to their religion and religious texts. I understand partisan politics. Some people will support their party no matter what, but there has to be a limit. I can go to Youtube right now and find a video of Hannity ripping Obama for wanting to meet with Kim Jong Un, and then find another Hannity video of him Praising Trump for wanting to do the same thing. Are we living in Bizarro world or what?

The biggest reason evangelicals support tRump is they hope to stack a Supreme Court that will dismantle Roe v. Wade!

1

I'm truly ashamed of the level of virtue signaling people are reaching in this country.

2

Trumpie is a crook always was and always will be. Let's just hope we survive this administration of like crooks.

"I can go to Youtube right now and find a video of Hannity ripping Obama for wanting to meet with Kim Jong Un, and then find another Hannity video of him Praising Trump."

If this is true then post a link. Sounds like bullshit to me. Obama was a little pussy that was afraid of Kim. He didnt have a intelligence or ability to find a road to peace.

gater Level 7 June 30, 2018

Ah, the illusions we accept when we're in love!!!

[facebook.com]

Posted two links for you Gater, you get the point.

@DennisHuff yeah and neither has Hannity ripping Obama

@gater You really can't see the difference in coverage? Hannity is clearly praising Trump for doing exactly the same thing Obama attempted to do, which was meet with Un and other questionable world leaders. the double standard? Un, by the way, is already upgrading his uranium enrichment capabilities. That fact alone would have Hannity calling out Obama but all I hear from him on Trump is crickets chirping.

@DennisHuff Still waiting for that video of Hannity ripping Obama for wanting to meet with Kim.

It is the same old story. He has found someone to blame for all the ills in the USA, just like other leaders have found scapegoats. I am sad and dismayed to see this happening, but people rather look for someone to blame than look at where the problems come from in the first place. Of course it did not help that the Democratic super delegated refused to endorse Bernie Sanders but insisted on Hillary which a larger proportion of the Democratic public did not want, so they either refused to vote or voted for Jill Stain.

A lot of us Bernie supporters took the bitter, bitter pill and voted FOR Hillary. That's why the bitch won the popular vote. And STILL look where it got us. The DNC is still trying to squash Bernie from ever running. Hillary worship and denial does not win elections. We want independent candidates on the ballots and in the debates. There is no such thing as choice when the only "choice" we are allowed is Facist GOP (stinking shit) or GOP lite (stinking shit with mayo). Give people who they want to vote for (Bernie) and they will flood the polls. Ignoring the obvious does not win elections.

@exilesky So true, keep up the good fight.

3

Most of us in marginalized groups are understandably terrified at what is unfolding. Gays, trans, people with disabilities, recent immigrants, and ethnic minorities. We are particularly at risk as scapegoats for this historically rehashed bigotry as a tool of fascism, that unscrupulous power-hungry use to dupe uninformed masses into dismantling their own democracies. This is absolutely not the first time this has happened. Sting was right: "History will teach us nothing." One would think that atheists, of all people, would see the danger of this religious bigotry that Trump is exploiting, con man that he is. But amazingly, even many here fail to see it. Incredible. If having basic discernment makes us elitists, so be it.

5

That pretty much sums up my thoughts. The guy has been a slimeball forever. The fact that he managed to get into office makes me realize that I do not understand my fellow countrypeeps. Or, perhaps the election WAS rigged.

7

all the above and the basic abominable manners of the man. A head of state should at least TRY to appear a person of integrity and manners. I don't know how he survived past the 'grab 'em by the pussy' comment or when he imitated the man with cerebral palsy. No one is perfect but this is one ugly, nasty, self-obsessed individual

A truly vulgar man in mind and heart. Devoid of any class. And a world champion of transparent lies.

6

I don't see how we can ever expect to recover from this. We won't even address Russian hacking involving the last election, what's to keep them from hacking every future election as well? Other countries are laughing at us - the ones that don't utterly hate us.

I don't think people are laughing at you. That idiot's got us all terrified!

2

Anyone who was shocked at Trump's win needed to re-examine their own assumptions and perspectives. That so few did pretty much is the root of why Clinton lost. And why Trump may get re-elected. 😟

this am bizarro world

You call Melania Trump an Immigrant amatuer porn star/ model? Calling the 1st Lady a porn star - what is wrong with you? No fucking respect - so typical of liberals.

gater Level 7 June 29, 2018

He calls it like he sees it, and many see it that way. She did sleazy work that could be called porn.Telling the truth shouldn't be disrespectful.

Maybe posing naked in public doesn't quite qualify her as a porn "star", maybe trashy whore is a better description? Why the HELL should anybody respect that? A whore marrying a rich guy doesn't automatically get respect. After the names that were called Mrs. Obama, how dare you expect anything even close to respect for this piece of shit who constantly plagarizes the last FLOTUS?

So, we owe it to the first “lady” to not say what she really is because she married for money/citizenship a sociopath who conned his way into the White House?

Didn't say that she continued the same line of work, but are you saying she isn't an immigrant, @gather, or that she has been treated more harshly than Michelle Obama. How has your "fucking respect" and that shown by other GOP snowflakes demonstrated a greater depth of civility? [snopes.com] Your weak claim about "No fucking respect" is so typical of the conservatives calling for civility, while showing NONE.

wasn't it the president's girl friend that was the porn star? Cheating on one's wife is fairly common but it says a lot about someone's character. Not someone I would want in office.

The POTUS shows very little respect.He sets the tone.

Re. "No fucking respect, ...so typical of liberals," is the pot calling the kettle black. No only has Trump himself thrown more shameless insults in all directions than any President before him, ...by magnitudes of order, no less,... his minions pile on, and other elected Republicans --90% of them, anyway, do everything to whitewash his grossly Un-presidential tirades.

Not as disrespectful as your president's behavior and his attitude towards women. Does that bother you?

I’m not ashamed—well, of course I am—but I’m more angry. Angry at the purists who wrote in candidates who didn’t have a chance, or said ‘eff it, we need revolution’. Angry at the ignorant, and furious at the WILFULLY ignorant. Angry at those who couldn’t be bothered to vote at all.
Well, here we are. I want to slap somebody, I really do.

CarolinaGirl, YES, YES, YES! Just what you said! I am angry too, and dismayed, and not just by the Trump base(though they are truly appalling). Also by the millions who were and are so indifferent. Stunned, frankly, by some non-religious, The Duchessas among us....sorry, but I have to call it as I see it...who spout false equivalences about how the left is just as bad as the right. NO. The left is of course flawed in many ways, but there is no comparison. And I am frustrated by the progressive purists who don't seem to care about the difference between a primary campaign and a general election campaign, who refused to participate once their favorite candidate was no longer in the race, despite his own appeals for them to do so. America deserves right now to lose much of its standing in the world, as we are on our way to doing, until it gets its shit together. I just hope we haven't torched the entire planet before that happens.

6

Very well said, I agree. Look at what our country has become. Unbelievable, my entire family are "god fearing Trump lovers".. SMH

I have not spoken a single word about politics to my family for nearly two years. I just walk out.

@CarolinaGirl60 I stopped talking to my family too, probably a little longer than you did even. My mom did a 180 in her political views after being brainwashed by fake news so I cut all ties.

@cyndiann That happened to my dad around the time he retired. Now it’s Limbaugh and Faux all day. I take my own earbuds when I visit there to drown out the insanity.

4

I never new how corrupt , mismanaged and misguided our government really is. It is sickening. I have lost hope in the USA as a bastion of equality, truth and justice.

A friend of mine wrote pretty much the same about Obama's tenure. Gee, nothing changes.

@DUCHESSA everything changed! We went from black to white in more ways than one.

@cyndiann Agreed, it's a mess

@cyndiann Well...that's not what some people feel. See...I hear the same complains....but from the other end.

@DUCHESSA Can you give us some examples of how the two presidencies are so similar?

@MsDemeanour I am not the one stating "similarities"...I only mentioned what few friends said. Now, about the immigrants -for instance-: Both have deported illegals (good) except that Obama deported many more than Trump.
I don't like either one...100%

@DUCHESSA This might clarify a few things about immigration for you [snopes.com]
Also I sincerely doubt Obama referred to asylum seekers as 'animals'. This dehumanises people and justifies prejudice.
Instead of stating hearsay, why don't you tell us your own opinions.

@MsDemeanour Thank you for referring to some facts. I'm guessing it won't make any difference though.

@MsDemeanour It seems you are the one who needs clarification about immigration. See, dear, Trump didn't call "animals" to the asylum seekers but ONLY TO THOSE ALREADY HERE AND ARE CRIMINALS...LIKE THE MEMBERS OF THE M-S 13 AND THE TRINITARIES....ARE YOU AWARE THAT LAST WEEK EIGHT MEMBERS OF THIS GANG EXECUTED WITH MACHETES A 15 Y/O KID IN THE BRONX....and it was a case of mistaken identity.
See, my friend, I know a lot more about the immigrants than you will ever. BTW, I could give you few more examples

@DUCHESSA This continual parading of victims of immigrants, really about non-whites, is exactly the same thing Hitler did with Jews. He repeatedly publicized Jewish criminals as a way to criminalize all Jews. Crimes are committed by all members of our society but immigrants, including undocumented ones, committ crimes at a lower percentage than native born Americans.
[nytimes.com]
[politifact.com]
Publicizing one heinous crime, the machete attack, does not correlate to an entire segment of the population. Most of the mass shootings have been perpetrated by 'white' men. I would hope you wouldn't lump me in with them.

@kmdskit3 No, generalizing is never good...and Trump didn't do so. If you listen to his words clearly you will understand he ONLY addressed with "animals" the bad ones.

@DUCHESSA I directly responded to what you said. You are just repeating your original point.

5

You have stated what's going on perfectly. Thank you, but I have no answers for you except get out the vote. That might eventually get rid of Dumpf but the 30% of Americans who follow him will still be here.

12

I hear you, I also have these questions. I'm related to evangelicals who voted for 45. They are willing to sell their souls because as religious believers they are not operating in reality. Their religion does not prepare them for reality. I remember as a child having to sit in church and listening to the pastor drone on about how Christians are persecuted and blah, blah, blah. That is how they see the world, that it is against them, but they don't see why their is resistance to their beliefs, because always they have tried to impose them on everyone whether they liked it or not. These people are not rational, and trying to expect rationality or even just decency and honesty out of these people is really asking for a lot. I just hope that we can somehow hang in there as a country and try to rebuild after 45 is out of office. However, if he picks another Supreme Court judge, we may be living in a theocracy in principle than in a democracy. I honestly don't know where this will end, but I feel your frustration.

I believe our country is headed for civil war.

@charlotte62 I fear that also.

@charlotte62 Sorry...I can't help it.......LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

@charlotte62 and @buzz13 I understand your fear but it will do your own health no good to be eaten up by fear and bitterness. I know I am an outsider, but I can't help thinking that the Trumpet WILL shoot himself in the foot. It's inevitable. He is reckless and stupid. He will get voted out and your country will get back to normal. Your political system does worry me tho. Only the rich can be president in your country. That is not democracy.

@MsDemeanour Sorry, no offense, but you do not have to be rich to be president, Obama, Clinton, Reagan, weren't rich. The bushes were and as you know Trump is.

@buzz13 According to Forbes. Hillary has a net worth of 45 million. Perhaps we have a different perception of what wealth is.

@buzz13 [snopes.com]
And my bad. It seems Obama only had a paltry 3m when running for president. Goes to show where there is talent, others will throw money at you. Still, 3m is way more than most will ever see. Do you still say anyone can be president?

@MsDemeanour The Clinton's were not born rich, neither was Obama, Hilliary's money came after Bill was President thru speaking engagements and a book deal, Obama had money but that was from his published book royalties. Please, I don't assume things about your country or politics , don't assume things about America without living here and working as a citizen.

@buzz13 Are you telling me that because I am not an American my opinion isn't valid? I have a brain in my head, I can read.........probably better than the majority of Americans who didn't vote in the last election. The president of the USA IS relevent and important to my country because we are supposed to be an ally. No the Clinton's weren't rich when running for office but have certainly made up for that. But to run for office, you have to have your own money eg Trump OR you have to ask others to give you money. HOw much influence to those that pay have over a future Pres?. If you were less provincial you would understand that in fact there are other ways of holding a more democratic election.

@MsDemeanour People like you make me sick, ready to put down anything that is none of your business. No wonder nobody vacations to Australia.

@buzz13 Jesus what's wrong with you? Run out of debate? "nobody vacations in Australia"??? Ouch that hurts. hahahahah. Australia doesn't exist! The world is flat!

@PickledRick Really?!? No one but you & yours can have an opinion or fear or even horror of the shitshow this country, the most powerful on Earth, has turned into?!? How is POTUS not a concern to everyone else on the planet???? I don't know what your problems are, but you have a definitely skewed view of things! For someone who supposedly "...can't tolerate Republicans..." you are sure sounding like a tRumpie to me!

@phxbillcee Stay out of it Bozo, this doesn't concern you

@PickledRick Oh, so comment threads are now just for you, too?!? Talk about a privileged boy!

@phxbillcee Rick's pickled. We ought to make allowances for him.

@MsDemeanour Looks like he bailed!!!

@MsDemeanour What a snowflake!!! He blocked me! LOL I hadn't even taken the kid gloves off, yet! Why get on a site & be nasty & then refuse to even defend one's position? & he even claims he's not a Rightie?!?! I guess his little ego & even smaller intellect was bruised!

@phxbillcee This is what is written on his profile : "....I also do not wish to argue, when I post or comment on something, rational discussion is required, otherwise pass by." Rational discussion he demands?? How rational was he handing out insults? He called you 'Bozo' and told me no one visits Australia. Oh the trauma! I'll be lying in bed worry about that all night. lol . But I agree with you.......not a worthy opponent. 😀

@MsDemeanour & then he blocks me like a baby! I've been on this site for quite some time (notice the level!!!), & I have blocked no-one, tho I think he is the 4th or 5th to block me. I merely stuck up for you because he was being unreasonable & insulting to boot! He is definitely a "do as I say, not as I do" type of infant! When he states he does not want to argue it means, let him be as unreasonable as he wants & never call him on it! Hypocrite!

@MsDemeanour BTW, i also agree with you, that whether the candidate for almost any office in this country anymore does not necessarilly have to be rich themselves, they better have monied backers! We desperately need to get money out of our politics in this country or we will never see an improvement or any responsiveness to the average citizen! Citizen's United needs to go & the whole election process needs to be overhauled!

@MsDemeanour I also love that he went from buzz13 to Pickled Rick in the course of one thread! I change my avatar at times, but I have stayed with the same name! What is he trying to hide??!!??

@PickledRick/Buzz 13, What you say is simply not true. Anyone anywhere totally has a right to express their opinions about what's going on in another country. The fact that they don't live in that country IN NO WAYmeans that they don't know what they're talking about.

@phxbillcee LOL!

@phxbillcee I rather like the Pickled Dick....er.... I mean RICK moniker. Perhaps he has been doing some self-reflection? Anyway thanks for jumping in. I'm pretty opinionated so I have to be thick skinned. A sense of humour is a must when roaming these forums. 😀

@MST3K Especially when it has to do with the US. For good & ill we have an outsized effect on the rest of the world, we have made ourselves & the country 'celebrities' with all that implies!

@MST3K, @MsDemeanour I knew you could stand-up for yourself, I just wanted to voice that he was being unfair & chauvanistic & then he got all cry baby!

@charlotte62 That is too frightening to contemplate, but I have thought about it.

@charlotte62, @MsDemeanour Yeah, we do not have a real democracy and that is really a great part of the problem, that and the willful ignorance on Civics on the part of my fellow Americans. It's depressing.

@Georgy303 I think too, a universal problem is that we can't get enough good, decent people interested in running. My country has the worst bunch (on both sides of the political divide) of candidates I have ever seen. I suppose it's pretty foolish to expect someone 'noble'.

@phxbillcee LOOK! Buzz, the PickedOne has gone. It's like he never existed. Now our comments look absurd. I wonder who has morphed into. If you're reading this Buzz, know that I never hold grudges, you don't have to reinvent yourself. Buzz, come back and we can join the same cheer squad Or you can step back in the ring for another round....your call. 😀

@MsDemeanour He has likely blocked you as well as myself! What a snowflake!

@phxbillcee He didn't sound like he was interested in any thoughtful discussion. I wonder if he has a Confederate flag on his vehicle.

@MST3K Why he jumped on MsDemeanour I don't know, but it seemed he was being unfair. Instead of clarifying, apologizing or doubling down, he blocks & bolts. No, he wanted to vent, for whatever reason, he didn't want thought involved!

@MsDemeanour I actually like seeing views from other places in the world. It lets me know it's not just us, that others see what we see. If only the dumb ones here could be woken up somehow. My own mother is one of them and I tried for 2 years to show her she was basing her views on lies and wasn't able to get through to her.

4

Exactly. Thank you.
