I was running errands with my mom, she was driving. My mom (who believes in god), looks over at me and says "where's your seatbelt?" I jokingly said "I don't need one, god will protect me", she says laughs and says "yeah, right". I say she's the nonbeliever LOL
And yes I didn't put my seatbelt on after this.

Just a thought: Maybe your mom said "yeah, right." Because she believes her god won't protect you because you don't believe in her god. (Like, god will punish you and let you die because you don't believe in him.) IDK. Just a thought. This is how many of my family members would mean it if they said that to me.

Funny how a mother will put the safety of her child above her beliefs. Please don't take offense on the seatbelt issue. For many, it is a sore point. Take it as concern for your safety and welfare with no harm intended. 🙂

I've worn a seatbelt since 1976 in Canada and wore one in the states before Michigan's law in 1985. I resented the government for getting in my car and forcing me to wear one. At least i did before someone pointed out, "Who do you think scrapes you off the pavement? It's traumatic for them even though it's their job." Now I don't feel right until it's on. However, I still resent additional laws to protect me from me.

She was wearing her seat belt! It was a typo!

Actually, you can still believe in a Creator as well as Phylogeny, Natural Selection or in this case Artificial Selection, depending on your mom's driving skill. Either way the herd will eventually be culled one way or another.

How come illegality is considered agnostic?

Come on now |:

@Neraven What did I say? I am not from USA, but wearing the seatbelt is a must everywhere I think.

Sok hon, I knew what you meant, I didn't always wear a seatbelt running errands and such until we got in an accident I was wearing one cause we were on the highway. I felt it hold me in place as we hit the car in front of us who stopped short. Lol

Funny story, but isn't it the law to wear a seatbelt in America? Has been since 1983 here in UK. My children still didn't want to wear theirs, so I used to tell them that the engine wouldn't start until they put them on. Worked a treat.

I always wore a seat belt, even before it was legally required. At first a few peopel were offended, asking if I thought they were a bad driver, but I just replied, it wasn't them I was worried about, but it was all the other drivers i was worried about. Nine times out of ten they'd stop and think a second and then put their own seat belt on too.

Good strategy. 🙂

This is what I say in response to "Christian Scientists" or JW's, "God helps those who help themselves." Not letting a doctor or medicine help is not just foolish, its STUPID! Even ancient peoples had some form of medicine, use it! Like the fool who asks god to let him win the lottery yet never buys a ticket! Glad you "buckled-up", tho!

Glad you survived to tell this tale 🙂

We have seatbelt laws in my state. I don't know about yours.

From one who doesn't wear. A seatbelt...
BUCKLE UP ! 🙂
