I doubt it will be in Germany. But Russia has a penchant for strong leaders, who knows what will happen there. And you could argue that Trump already is an American equivalent, a strongly nationalistic leader who is going to “make America great again”.

IMHO humans are, when things are too stressful, self destructive in that we're cyclical and yes there are many variations of Hitler, always have been, always will be.
People are inherently sick with herdthink, hivemind. All it takes to get one of these to fruition is the cocktail of stretched resources and too many people with the din of a repetitive msg.

If you look at history properly Hitler was just a beginner there's been rulers who have slaughtered far more than he . But even in the last 100 years we have had rulers who have slughtered indescriminatly . History is just doomed to repeat itself

I am more concerned about the state of our divided country.
I enjoy target shooting with a light caliber rifle and am quite good at it, I wonder if I might want to step up in caliber. I don't want to sound paranoid, I experienced that my entire life from my Dad, in fact I fear sounding paranoid. With so many conservative ex-soldiers and the Oath Keepers and such, anyone care to guess how many ex-soldiers side with the more liberal interpretation of the constitution? How many would fight to keep it from being subjugated to a more conservative document (more than it is now)?
Don't get me wrong, I do not want a physical fight and I do want the politicians to work together by comprimise to find a balance. But, at times I am afraid. Please tell me I'm being foolish.
Would I fight against another Hitler? Short answer: yes.

Quite possibly. We do not learn from history, and so are doomed to repeat it.

With Trump spouting that the press is the "enemy of the people", he's not even got the originality to come up with new slogans. He's just recycling old Soviet phraseology.

Trump probably isn't Hitler material because while he's nationalistic and xenophobic he's also dysfunctionally narcissistic, incompetent and so furiously decompensating these days that I don't think he's functioning in the same reality as us. Someone more disciplined, intelligent and charming would be required.

At the same time ... he would qualify as a typical banana republic dictator, so there's plenty of human suffering that can come of that. And, in fact, already is.

Look at the pattern of economics , social crisis and major war every 80 years. We are in one now with Trump ready to break out.

History re-cycles. With this movement towards nativist and uber nstionalism, it's quite possible. The scarry part is that I never thought it could hapoen in the US. I'm not so sure now.
