I understand there will always be a generation gap. There was one between my parents and me and there is one between me and anyone who wasn’t alive when David Lee Roth was the front man for Van Halen (the first time)…

Sunday night, I walked into McDonalds and strode up to the counter like a man who knew what he was doing.

Things change so suddenly…

I started to give my order and the girl behind the counter informed me that I could place my order at one of the big touch-screen computers dispersed in the waiting area.
I walked back to the waiting area and looked at the monstrosity I was supposed to use…then I walked back up to the counter and told the girl, “We’ll be doing this the old-fashioned way”.

I gave my order to her and she just sighed and looked at me like I’m retarded…

Bitch, I can write cursively and I want some fries with that damned order!

Life will keep changing..... that train is now going full speed and cannot be stopped. We can always re-invent ourselves. Use the kiosk and be done with it. Until the next great invention.....

Being an ass to a mcdonald's working, for doing her job, because you think your age excusses you from learning ... loss. epic loss

The Thai movie theaters do the same things with the big touch screens to order movie tickets. I don't read Thai well at all, so I usually just call one of the staff over to do it for me.

Don't eat there. It's not even food.

I totally agree with you. We have those here in Australia too and I refuse to use them. I also refuse to use the self serve paying counters in supermarkets. People are not releasing that they are taking away jobs from people and by that no tax from wages comes into the government.

Copy that. Just like those self serve checkouts in supermarkets now. I don't know about in the US, but in Australia supermarkets deploy few people at the checkouts so increasingly you are forced to use the self serve model. Grrrr.

Man I feel your pain. I only have a McDonalds when my 11 year old daughter persuades me to, usually as a treat, so she's in charge of the screen and the ordering, I'm only there to wave my card at the payment bit when prompted to do so.
