Absolutely no reason not to allow people to grow whatever plants and cash crop they want to grow. However, I do believe it should be only recreation once past age 21, like alcohol.

No because grow houses attract crime & often catch on fire,

You sure you're not confusing pot grow houses with meth labs (which are highly flammable)?
As for attracting crime; couldn't that be because pot is illegal in most states?

@expatri Pot is legal in my state. They rent houses & mess with the wiring to run the fans & lights. At least one house near me burnt down for that reason. 2 landlords on my street had MAJOR damage to repair after their houses were used as grows. & up the hill from me, people who had medical cards & a legal grow were broken into, & their dog was shot dead...

Yes, because it is much safer than alcohol and nicotine.

True--tobacco & alcohol are the 2 deadliest drugs in the US.

Yes, by all means legalize so we can get on with the business of educating. Never lose site though that it is a drug with real effect, some of which may be adverse, unfortunately especially in those who are at ages where the drug may do the most damage to the brain. I do not think we are anywhere near understanding the effects of the drug on the developing brain. And now research indicates that brains are still in development until ages 25 (for females) to 30 (for males). The studies seem to be all over the map so far. We need some solid controlled studies to clarify.

Cannabis (marijuana) cures or improves many dozens of disease conditions. Cannabis can cure some forms of cancer and certainly improves the nausea from chemotherapy. It is likely that millions of people including many children have died from cancers and epilepsy that could have been cured by cannabis. The Endocannabinoid System is a critical neuromodulating and immunomodulating process that has been forbidden from receiving research funding. Many of the beneficial effects develop from a cocktail of drugs present in cannabis, and this Entourage Effect does not lend itself to being recreated by pharmaceutical companies. Thus, the 'Establishment' sees little benefit except tax revenue from cannabis. (Properly combined, the THC and CBD strains are a potent aphrodisiac.)

Had a nephew who died at a young age from cancer. Unfortunately he was focused on getting cannabis oil and stopped his regular chemotherapy. He was neither educated enough nor in his right mind - who would be at 17 with cancer - but I'm angry at those who tried to influence him towards the use of an unproven "cure". He gave up the the opportunity to extend his life for a few more years. Two years is enough time for new advances to come to light and maybe could have given him a fighting chance. Not saying that traditional medicine has all the answers, not by a long shot, but the one answer that is not correct for sure is to try some hyped up idea you got off the Internet.

Yes cannabis may have an effect against cancer cells, as do many other substances. Problem is that any of those substances need to be studied long and hard before they can be put into place and their use needs to be optimized.

I recall a particularly heartbreaking youtube series from a young man with a brain cancer who was going to show how the cannabis oil was going to kill his cancer. Unlike most claims, this kid actually had an xray of his tumor. After a few weeks the very distraught kid showed a new xray that showed that the cancer had indeed spread and it became clear that he was going to die.

I have no doubt the gov and drug companies are looking at cannabis. It just doesn't happen overnight and cancer treatment is certainly not for the amateur.

The tax revenue for recreational marijuana could benefit our public schools and assist in the abolishment of homelessness. It has multiple health benefits that make the high-risk pharmaceuticals unnecessary.

Yes the drug war has failed

I'm a non-smoker. Legalize it. Hell, go a step further. Decriminalize the possession of all drugs. Being an addict should mean getting treatment, not jail time.

I am in favor of adult recreational use being legal everywhere. Marijuana is far less harmful than alcohol or pills.
