I'm more of a gin drinker myself.
@maturin1919 Yeah, I know. But I like juniper berries and all the other yummy things.
@maturin1919 No they are not. I have been a lifelong gin drinker and can’t abide vodka. They are most definitely different.
Me too.....I have just started drinking Pink Gin this summer, have you tried it?
@maturin1919 I know they are basically both grain spirits, but they don’t taste the same or even remotely alike. I used to work for a distillery so you can’t tell me anything I don’t already know. You actually said , and I quote “they are almost the same thing”. That is completely inaccurate as it implies one can be substituted for the other without noticing any discernible difference, that is completely wrong as any Gin or vodka drinker would tell you.
@maturin1919 Are you incapable of reading what I carefully worded. Just because the basic ingredients are the same, which I of course know, it doesnt mean that they can be mistaken for reach other on the palate. As you are obviously unable to grasp the subtleties of the taste involved in alcoholic drinks, and why people have preferences you really can’t have an opinion on the merit of one over the other. Actually, using your logic you could say that grain whisky is also the same, and that is patently absurd!
Gin is basically vodka infused with botanicals. You're both right, no need to argue.
gin here as well! Gin people are good ppl.. lol
@Nottheonlyone actually Gin is a herbal infusion alcohol that is then distilled. The Bombay method has the plants exposed to the alcohol vapours before condensation. I'll be taking a crack at making gin pretty soon. As a chemist, I built my own fractionating column. Goes from 5% to 80% in one pass...
@Lukian When you do, we'll have to figure out a way I can sample it!
@Nottheonlyone Together? we'll PM each other. I'll put you in my rolodex... wink.
@Lukian I'll bring my ukulele!
@Nottheonlyone ukulele ppl are good ppl. Maybe even better than only gin ppl.
