Not an anti-anything but flu shot, thanks but no thanks!

I get a flu shot every year and I get a pneumonia shot every 10 years. I also avoid sick people because gross.

I am forced to get one every year by my employer. Hopefully, there will be a change in the law that prevents employers from being allowed to make healthcare decisions for their employees.

I think if it's going to affect everyone at your job then why don't they have a right to tell you to get a flu shot? Flu shots are a good thing.

@SonderOpia A. It's not anywhere near as effective as actual vaccines like Polio. B. I have an extremely violent immune response to the flu vaccine, so much so that I'd rather take the risk of just getting the flu. C. I hadn't had the flu for probably 2 decades before they started forcing me to take the shot. D. Anecdotally, I have been ill with the common cold much more frequently in the years I was forced to tax my immune system with a response to the flu shot. E. If it is as effective as they claim it is, wouldn't it only affect those that didn't take it?

@JeffMurray Well then maybe you shouldn't have to get the flu shot if it makes you sick. But I would want the people around me to get it so I wouldn't get sick from them. Kind of like vaccines. Also you have to remember there's several strands of the flu virus so they don't always get it right. You can get a super flu shot which contains most of the strands but most doctors only give three strand shots. I know this year's shot isn't but 10% effective. Viruses and bacteria evolve We just need to learn how to keep up with it. They work for me or at least if I get sick I won't be as sick.

@SonderOpia That's precisely my point, the flu shot can't keep up with the rapid mutation of the flu virus, thus, it's not much of a vaccine. If it had a higher success rate and a was aimed at a greater threat (like Polio) I'd totally agree.

Never get one-my doctors plead with me but I say no because for the first time in last 5 years of them being in control I am in control.

Why are people not getting flu shots? Every since I started getting them every year I've not gotten the flu and once I got my pneumonia shot I've not gotten pneumonia and I've had pneumonia 3 times before getting my shot.

I'm a cancer survivor-sick of needles-have to get my childhood immunizations once a year-6 shots at once-you feel like your arms will fall off-that's why.
