Hi, RoughPup, and welcome to the website!

By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve.

For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.

You can improve your website score in general by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.

Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.

Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others who are compatible with them.

In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at [agnostic.com].

In order of your three sentences:

Hello back.
Good to have you here.
You've come to the right place.

Enjoy 🙂

So where do we start ?

I had a major brain aneurysm last November while I was working in Toronto. My attention span is not what it used to be. But what is on my mind is the idea of a young earth. I recently had a heated exchange with a relative and neighbour who is a young earth theorist. I have debated people before on this matter before I had my aneurysm. I have the facts but not the patience. Other relatives and past friends still hound me about giving up my faith. Until last November I was quite ready and willing to debate. But not so much anymore. I will say this; I have days when I feel that I wasted so much time. It's a bit lonely.

My background does still have residual effects. Those who know where I come from and who are themselves religious feel they can try to re-convert me. And when it doesn't work arguments emerge. I live in a small town far away from where I lived before. But it still finds me. I recently had a heated conversation with a neighbour about the age of the earth. Yes a young earth theorist. And he is quite aggresive about it. My sister is a mormon and I still have a few friends from church - though calling them friends may be a stretch. I dedicated so much of my life to theistic beliefs. Being a musician, though, has helped keep my head screwed on straight. Parallel to my christian life I also played secular music quite a bit. Now, as an older man, I play the blues mainly. I had a brain aneurysm last year and now I am on disability. I don't have people to speak to about this strange life I have lived.

Happy for you that you are a musician....it must be wonderful to play. I love music so much...all kinds...piano lessons left me with appreciation for classical....my music teacher preferred Bach and like composers. However I have a love for Elton John and Neil Diamond and Bob Dylan ...also Pink Floyd, The Who, and on and on. Music picks me up and carry me away.

I hope we can accommodate.
