Sept 13th I touch down in Denver. Never been to this side of the planet before - too much to see in three weeks! I'll be staying at my cousin's in Boulder for over a week acclimatising then getting dragged kicking, screaming and hyperventilating up some seriously high up mountains on my 50th birthday. Then heading up to WA for a week or so, some hiking, some watching the numerous excellent bands, getting too wasted and sleeping half the day, seattle but probably further north too before going back to Boulder before my flight back to jail. I'd be thrilled to meet a few of you fellow heathen scum as I pass through, I'm sure I can do a few detours, I should have loan of a car for the southern part of it, will fly to Seattle though.
BTW I'm not looking to hook up with people I meet, were half a planet away and the frequent flying would bankrupt me!! I'm just hoping to get to know a few great people 🙂
So who's up for any or all of (in no particular order):

  • some hikes in your fantastic local scenery. I uses to be big on mountains but my cardio fitness limits me to the less steep monsters now.
  • some indoor/outdoor climbing, will have shoes and harness with me.
  • catching some lesser known local bands in cozy venues, simultaneously drinking way too much.
  • relaxing with your legal high of choice and laughing, loudly at ridiculous shit.
  • just grabbing a coffee from a proper coffee shop somewhere after showing me the sights.

@btroje @webbew1 sorry but the family had so much planned I didn't get a chance to look up either of you, though I did spend time in Denver and further south. Washington will have to wait! Back home now after a fantastic trip and I'll definitely be back ?

this is a big country. I hope you enjoyed Colorado!

@btroje and some of Utah!

@Salo now that is a trippy state with the red rock. DId you go toward Moab?

@btroje oh yep we stayed 3 nights in Moab. Even met a hiking author who invited us to her book signing the next day and gave us some great hints for people-less hikes in southern canyonlands area.

@btroje we'd borrowed my cousin's car so we got to play Thelma and Louise ?

@Salo I guess you skipped that driving off the cliff part

@btroje just about ?

hydration is really important with altitude. Denver is almost my neck of the woods. I live about 5 hours south

Mmm probably heading north or east but you never know, I may surprise you 🙂

@Salo there are free hot springs here if you do come this way

I hope you have a great trip....sounds like it will be fun filled, but exhausting! Hope your 50th bd will be memorable...it is half a century!! ??

I'm in east Denver. Be happy to meet up if time permits. Best places to catch underground and indie bands in the Denver area are The Lions Lair and the Hi-Dive.

Ok great we'll try catch a band? I'll message nearer the time and see how our schedules look ?

@Salo

Here's the schedule for The Lions Lair. Look it over and see what sounds good to you. The web site for the Hi-Dive appears to be having some issues, but might I suggest Jake LaBotz on Sept. 15th if you're in to the Mississippi Delta Blues.

early welcome to usa... your screen name reminds me of that movie 'Salo'... anybody ever seen it?

The only other person to make that connection promised me they'd be the only one, which is why I didn't change the name, the film sounds a bit....?

@Salo it's an EXTREMELY odd and disturbing movie.

@SeeCanU I looked at the wikipedia page or similar and decided I wouldn't be watching it but would be changing my name. That's on the cards again now haha! The only other film with the same personal ban is I think it's called Human Caterpillar.

@Salo lol... yea i would NOT recommend watching it. you can't unwatch it. you have a goodn'!
