None, pick up a book.

@Redcupcoffee That would depend on the genre you prefer to read. I favor science fiction and fantasy, no surprise there I'm a geek.

In no particular order:
Stranger in a Strange Land; Robert Heinlein.
The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings; J.R.R. Tolkien
Adiamante, L.E. Modesitt, Jr.
The Dark Ability; D.K. Holmberg (beginning of a 7 book series with many other related series)
Dark Matter; S.W. Ahmed
Earth; David Brin
PastWatch, the Redemption of Christopher Columbus; Orson Scott Card
Ender's Game; Orson Scott Card

I'm also gay so here are a few that offer a different perspective.
Raising My Rainbow; Lori Duron
Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda; Becky Albertalli
Openly Straight; Bill Konigsberg

One thing to note if you decide to read anything by Robert Heinlein, most of his works were written in the 1940's and 1950's and as a result can at times be quite sexist and racist. Just keep in mind when they were written and enjoy the story he is telling without delving to deep into the biases of an author that has been dead since 1988.

There are many, many more that I could list: like
The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, an epic 14 volume story, each volume is at least 800 pages.

Most of the authors I have listed here I have read many books from, and have enjoyed their works a great deal. I have around 1000 print books in my apartment, and another 1200 or so on my kindle. That is what I have left after moving to progressively smaller apartments over the last few years.

(CURRENTLY RUNNING)
5. Supernatural
4. The Walking Dead
3. Game of Thrones
2. Westworld

  1. Counterpart

(SERIES THAT HAVE ENDED)
5. Stargate SG-1 / Atlantis
4. Breaking Bad
3. Psych
2. Farscape

  1. House

And sgu? Where is sgu?

@Pedrohbds I feel like SGU was trying too hard to capitalize on the dark, gritty tone of Battlestar Galactica, and didn't have a clear idea of how to do it. It wasn't even a bad concept, but the plot seemed overwhelmed with darkness without enough substance to sustain it.

JasonNash, I really enjoyed SG-1, and I'm ambivalent about Atlantis. There were things to like, of course, but I always felt like exploration of Atlantis itself could have been a bigger part of the plot — but maybe that would have fractured the storyline too much. Farscape was great, too — lots of tough questions about philosophy and ethical dilemmas, plenty of action, trippy by times, suspenseful, great character development.

I don't think I could narrow it down to just 5. So I'm going to cheat a little and do two sets of 5. One for comedies and one for dramas.

Comedies

  1. Community
  2. The Good Place
  3. Parks & Recreation
  4. Futurama
  5. Gravity Falls

Dramas

  1. Breaking Bad
  2. The Wire
  3. Person of Interest
  4. The Expanse
  5. Westworld

Honorable Mention = Avatar: The Last Airbender

The Expanse was amazing.

No particular order, and this is more “what I’ve watched recently” and is sitcom-heavy, but so be it.

Letterkenny: rapid-fire timing, and available on Hulu recently.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: It’s not 30 Rock, but similar absurdity and outrageous characters.

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Well written and well acted, even the worst characters have moments where they are sympathetic.

Drunk History - every now and then, you might learn something from this, even as they work through the booze.

Mystery Science Theatre 3000 - Working through the new series now, but I still have my favorites from the original series.

Drunk History - I love that, but often forget about it being on.
Thanks for mentioning it.

Loved Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Limiting to 5 might be too difficult.
MASH
Game of Thrones
Dexter
Quantum Leap
House
Monk
Psych
House of Card
Castle
Love Boat
Law & Order SVU
Andy Griffith Show
I Love Lucy
Shameless
Schitt's Creek

So many to choose from....

I forgot Golden Girls.

@Tinocca That ripped he myth that women aren't funny.
Especially....old women.

0

Will and Grace (some of the smartest writers, ever)
Burn Notice
Dexter
Six Feet Under
Ray Donovan

Also Fringe.

0

I would keep all but one of your pics, and replace Stranger Things with Orange Is The New Black. We have very similar viewing tastes.

0

Couldn't name just five. In no particular order:

  • Northern Exposure
  • Murphy Brown
  • Saturday Night Live (1975-1980 only)
  • Project Runway
  • Taxi
  • MASH
  • Moonlighting (first few seasons only, before it jumped the shark)
  • Third Rock from the Sun
  • The Carol Burnett Show

Moonlighting....YES! Murphy Brown, too....

0
  1. Battlestar Gallactica
  2. Stranger Things
  3. Westworld
  4. The Amazing World of Gumball
  5. Seinfeld

@shebaloney
I know!! So funny and all kinds of uncomfortable. Today, Gumball caught his Dad leading a secret double life—cross-dressing as Blanche from the Golden Girls.

0
  1. Survivor
  2. Stranger Things
  3. The Crown
  4. Jack Ryan
  5. The West Wing - yes I have watched this 5 million times!!!

I love The Crown! It would have been on my list, had we been allowed 10. 🙂

2

I need to add Frasier, The Golden Girls, Bob's Burgers, The Guild, Stranger Things, Life, The Finder, Lie To Me, A Series Of Unfortunate Events, Young Sheldon, etc

I could go on and on =)

Yes Golden Girls! What a classic!

Bob's Burgers is my fav late-night, can't-sleep show to watch.

0

1 the office (UK version)
2 walking dead
3 big bang theory
4 inbetweeners

2
  1. South Park
  2. Rick & Morty
  3. Who is America
  4. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia
  5. Futurama
0

Tough, tough question. Here we go: 5) Ash vs. Evil Dead, 4) Parks and Rec, 3) Arrested Development, 2) The Office, 1) Hannibal.

0

I loved Breaking Bad from the opening moments.

I was into Walking Dead for a long time but I haven't been able to watch it after they killed of Carl.

On edit --- I was thinking ---- dammit.

Dallas - that was some serious melodrama and has there ever been a more beloved villain than J.R.?

SNL - at least some seasons.

And I think people should chose either a cooking or crafting or gardening or This Old House type program. Skills get them.

0
  1. The Venture Bros
  2. Leverage
  3. Brooklyn 99
  4. My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
  5. Daria

Pinkie Pie fo' life.
