We hear news of thousands of women being raped, but we never hear the news of a man being raped. Does it show that only men are ferocious and predatory in nature?

Men are raped by women and men are raped by other men. It’s often underreported because of shame.
Not rape but my son was groped by a girl on a school bus. It was difficult to get the school to take it seriously. It wasn’t until they saw the video from the bus where they saw my son push her away and get witnesses.

But if we are to be honest, the amount of sex crimes are still overwhelmingly against women and children.

You are right

1

Catholic priests raped over thousands of children across the world. Many of the victims were boys.

2

Men are victims too and are even less likely to report their assaults because of the very stereotype you are depicting. Don’t assume because there are no headlines in the newspapers about male rape that it doesn’t happen. They are not usually raped by women though, but other men....so you have probably proved your point in a strange way!

Men gets raped, just not as often, and probably only a tiny percent gets reported. Your sweeping generalization about men is better left under the rock you dragged it out from, IMO

1

Men do get raped. Some men violently so and gang raped by women. I think one difference here is that more men think of being a porn star while women feel degraded and will tell you they never asked for this. Outside of the violence involved the bottom line is that you do not (and should not) have control over another person's body. Most rape is an act of control or hate, and not a sexual act.

Never say "never". Men do report rape. What about the accusation against Asia Argento?

Whenever we hear stories about a female teachers having sex with their male students, that's rape.

yes that's absolutely true. And I hate it when it is perceived as a lesser crime than when a male teacher abuses a female pupil

Are you talking about being sodomised by another man? Women too can be ferocious and predatory but considering most violent crimes are carried out by men I don't think you need to be on the look out for a violent woman lurking in the park to attack you. I notice you are from India. I hope you don't subscribe to this lot of ignorants

btw most men are not ferocious or predatory. I certainly don't know any like that. I wonder about the ones in the video tho especially the bloke at the end who says there is no rape within marriage. Poor bastards feel threatened by women wanting equal rights.

No. It shows we get no news from prison. Lol

In the US, 1 in 5 women report having been raped compared to 1 in 71 men. Men report rape less than women do, so the numbers could be higher (as they could be higher for women). Half of transgender people report having been raped.
In many cases, being “ferocious and predatory” is less accurate than feeling entitled. Many seemingly nice people commit rape, so victims have no suspicion it will happen, like date rape or victimization by family, friends, religious leaders, or employers.

Is this true? 20% of American women ??

I can't believe that in a country like the US 20% of women are raped.

@PontifexMarximus That’s a generally accepted number from a reliable source. It corellates to conversations I have with friends, students and clients, as well as my reading about sexual abuse.

@UUNJ holy shit

Exactly.

The overwhelming majority of rapists are male. One should also consider that males would be even less likely to report rape especially when committed by the "weaker" sex.

L'affaire Théo is a judicial affair concerning the arrest and alleged rape of Théodore Luhaka, 22. This case is interesting because it challenges the concept of rape frequently committed to obtain sexual gratification.
The present case is interesting and will become a test case,
Théo was subject to a routine police control. There versions of what had happened differ. However, the control was carried out by 4 police. Théo was not suspected of being a dangerous criminal.
In short: the altercation landed Théo in hospital with a ruptured anus inflicted upon him by one police using his truncheon. Théo lawyer, Eric Dupont Moretti, insists on the fact that there was penetration thus rape. He emphasises that the way the baton was used was unusual and meant to penetrate Théo’s body.
In this case the perpetrator was a male police officer.
The medical examination established that the baton trans-pierced the rectum from the perineum (space between the scrotum and the anus) and was not directly introduced into the anus.
For more than 18 months Theo still has to wear a pouch.

In my book , that's still rape .

It is extremely shocking

@Cast1es Mine also

@Cast1es Actually the prosecution seems to lean towards the alternative of torture.

As I understand it , more often than not , when a man is raped , it's by another man . I'm not saying a man is never raped by a woman , just that it seldom happens .

This article reports a study showing that among men who reported rape, 68-79% of the perpetrators have been women. [theatlantic.com]

Your comments make sense

@UUNJ Do you have the statistics showing the number of men being raped by women vs . the number of women being raped by men ?

@UUNJ In your article , the 68-79 % was sexual victimization , but not necessairly rape . The rate for rape of a male , by a lone female was 28% . Significantly lower .

@Cast1es The next sentence states that the “victimization” refers to being forced to penetrate. It’s important to include that because rape against men isn’t limited to anal penetration.

@UUNJ I didn't know that a man could be forced to penetrate someone else . Doesn't it just stay limp ? Or , maybe they force him to take a Viagra first ? Have to admit , I'm a bit out of my depth , here .

you never hear of men being raped? that's odd. i do. it's been in the news lately, too.

g

i guess the proof would be more problematic if a raping woman is penetrated As normally the rapist is the penetrator.

@PontifexMarximus yes, people tend to to disbelieve women who are raped even if a rape kit comes out positive, but the disbelieve is even stronger when a man gets the courage to report being raped by a woman.
