Does the lack of ANY bio seem suspect to anyone else? Just curious.

Not suspect to me. Perhaps a bit lazy or unaware of its potential significance.

I had a long and comprehensive bio...but there was a post about full bios that was pretty negative about long bios with lots of photos etc..it seemed to get a lot of support...so I just deleted mine..and left my favourite Athiest quotes and some memes with 2 or 3 photos..I figured what the hell...most people knew me by then anyway.

A man with no bio gets no attention....especially from me.

As a woman I reduced my bio to nothing as a member here surreptitiously gleaned information & tracked me down on social media because I would not post a photo or.....
So 'eph 'em

A true con/scammer would be careful to fill out things plausibly, 100%.

I went through this thread and blocked all the people who said they didn't have bios. That's my policy, as well as blocking people who don't post profile photos.

I don't have a bio. I mistakenly thought in the beginning that all the questions that I answered was the bio info. It's been about a month and a half and now feel a bit foolish filling one out and now prefer not having one. You can get the most important (religious views) and basic info about someone reading how they filled out their answers. A bio can be misleading as well so I'm careful whether they have one of not.

Yes,

This is suspicious.

Without a bio, a person could find a potential "target" and "make up" a bio for him/herself to best suit the "needs" of the target. I have discovered, the hard way, there are many people who do not honestly represent conditions or themselves.

You are wise to question such things.

You don't have a profile photo, so I'm going to block you also.

I feel the opposite...a competent scammer/con would be careful to have a full, plausible bio!

@birdingnut I have photo. just not my primary ?

Yes. 🙂

It totally creeps me out, and I confront the offenders at every chance, or whenever I notice it. If they refuse to respond, I often block them.

I didn’t have one for about a month after joining. It’s not easy for some to talk about themselves or knowing exactly what they should mention. I’ve read some great ones. I can definitely the skepticism if there’s no profile.

It's not as bad with a woman, since men don't usually have reason to fear strange women, but when it's men, I confront, or block them. It is dangerous not to know about men's backgrounds..they could be predators.

@birdingnut definitely agree with you there.

no. some people take the time to figure out whether they're staying before committing with a bio.

for months???

@jniece well that is odd, but you didn't actually mention that until now. anyway, some people are slower than others. the bottom line is, we can't guess why someone came and went, and why they didn't leave much of a mark meanwhile.
