A remarkably resilient creature...I read an account one tjme about a coyote that the writer claimed could gauge a shooters accuracy and hover just beyond where the bullets were landing near him.

I have an ambivalent relationship with them; I understand their place in nature, but I also own small dogs, i.e., dinner in coyotes' eyes.

Only fairly recently did I read that the term prairie wolf actually refers to coyotes.

I love my coyotes, although in my area they are considered vermin and anyone can shoot them anytime. They are free to safely roam on my almost 20 acre property. I’ve come face to face with a number of them including a big male I named Peter. I’ve never had any negative incidents with them.

I’ve been face to face in close proximity with a large male wolf who used to visit my property. He had a large V pattern on his back. I haven’t seen him since that first year.

I had a coyote/chow mix when l lived in Taos. Smartest dog l ever had.

Yeah..I love them; especially for their endearing habit of removing disease-spreading, wildlife killing domestic cats from the environment.

That or he was thinking of the products he needed to order from Acme...

....was he holding an Acme box?

@Bendog it’s funny, I live almost downtown Denver, but the Platte River is a few blocks from my house and a giant park (Ruby Hill) nearby as well as a great walking path on Sanderson gulch. I see coyotes regularly out there. I’m usually walking my little dogs, and they have a look in there eyes that seems to ask, "for me" Actually here lately it’s been a bit slow, so the rabbit population is building up. I can’t remember the last time I saw a road runner.
