i am sorry to hear you've been so alone. i was not surrounded by religious people in my youth so quite frankly i didn't even know who was an atheist and who wasn't, but i have since met some pretty aggressive religionists.

I've been a non-believer since I was about 12. Most of the people I've met in my life would never know that. We're not out trying to drum up more business and donations for a religion. I think most of us are "leave me alone and I'll leave you alone" kind of folks. But, we're here. And there are more of us all the time.
