This site appears to have identity problems. Is it for dating or is it Facebook? Interesting but a little strange.

It is a discussion group primarily, but with far more courtesy and intelligence than FB...you can select "here for community" or you can get an Excellent sense of a person by reading their posts/responses to others, and perhaps connect.

Hi, Drew, and welcome to the website!

This website has a bit of a learning curve, so here's some info, in case you need it.

For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.

You gain website points by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.

Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.

Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others with similar interests..

In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page.

I'm here for the variety of discussions, and happily pick and choose which posts I read and comment on. I started out as "open to meeting men" but changed that to "community only" as I'd be happy to meet anyone with similar interests in a platonic way.

This site allows you to see a different side of people you might be interested in as a love interest, through an ability to see how s/he replies to posts, and what subject s/he is interested in. Also can see how they interact with wit, humor, friendliness, compassion, intellect, interests, etc., which might not be easily noticed on a dating profile. It's a way to kind of peek into their heart and mind a bit, without any pressure. Seems to me to be a more organic way to meet people you may not come upon physically in your own geographic community.

If I were to fall for a guy in a romantic way, through this site, it would begin with an attraction for the types of posts or comments he makes. But that's all for naught since I live pretty far away from most of the contributors on this site and dating is not my priority, nor even on my to do list. Happy to just converse with like-minded folks.

Of course, anyone interested in meeting me can fly to Kauai to visit!

Every sire is a little different. If all sites were alike, the internet would be pretty boring.

It's a community website where you can also date

Personally I think it is it's own beast. Been on meetup, different dating apps and of course fb and Twitter.. all social media apps are going to have things in common.. this feels a little different..

It’s a community and discussion site with a dating component for those interested in dating. Many of us, like me, are just here for community/discussion and are not participating in the dating aspects. It’s best to read members’ bios to see what it is they are looking for here.

LOL! Men usually don't bother to read profiles. I've started blocking men who don't post their own profile photos and profiles.

@birdingnut Oh I know. I’ve had my share of men wanting something I’m not offering, and obviously they don’t read profiles. I actually find the dating component of this site really annoying and gets in the way of my enjoyment of participating in discussions.

We are a community which offers friendship, intelligent discussion and dating opportunities. I joined last November and met the love of my life here in the Singles/Mingle/chatroom in May of this year. We fell in love and have been living together since July. Anything is possible here. Its up to you.
