And the world is fine and good with that.

But if I also say I don't believe a child should be taught to feel shame or inferior because they are;

I just don't "get" it I guess. And I'm not sure I want to.

It seems funny but immigration seems the be the common denominator behind a lot of right shifts. I lived in Germany as the Soviet Union was crumbling and Germany opened it's doors to refugees. Unfortunately, Germany already had a huge population density and this only added to the crunch. People couldn't play soccer as the fields became tent cities. Infrastructure started to fail. Tax rates are high and people started to feel their taxes were not being used for the citizens. When the wall fell and the East Germans were united the problems exploded.
A editorial by the syndicated columnist Fromma Harrop "Can we have a sensible immigration policy" [creators.com] gave a lot of facts about how this issue has gotten way out of hand. When we let our hearts rule our heads we are in for a lot of trouble. And we are getting it.

After living in America for 20 years, I am dumbfounded and feel helpless when I read this about my home country. It used to be consoling to think " oh well that is all happening in East Germany", that is not the case anymore... for a fact it has even infiltrated my circle of German friends here in the US! A big factor seems to be Germany's asylum politics....it reminds me on what is going on here. The richest countries in the world, and often the cause why other countries are war zones and poverty torn, are still greedy, despite the fact that they hardly can chew what they have heaped onto their plate. Instead of turning against the rich, this tiny minority that controls all of us, we turn against the poorest and neediest. Who would have thought that racism and nationalism/fascism is growing in our developed world?

Don't forget the Kardashians, sport and entertainment idols, and just about anything to distract the people of what really matters (IF indeed anything really does matter).

I shouldn't be surprised that such blatant racist hate still exists in this day and age, but I am (and in Germany, no less!). Shows us just how narrow-minded and dim-witted people can be. This is disgusting. =[
