I have spent a great deal of time alone in Paris and Brussels (I do speak the language, which undoubtedly helps), and loved every second. It's fun to travel with someone else but also wonderful to go alone, where I can decide what I want to do next without having to consult anyone.

Lovely coincidence: I'm reading a series of novels set near Montreal, and am thinking of taking a trip there and/or Quebec City sometime soon. Might drive and take my dog, as apparently they have a European attitude about them in public places.

I have gone on cruises with my daughter and we spent most of the trip apart and met for dinner or something but almost all my activities are solo for various reasons that looked lame in print so I deleted them LOL

I used to go off on my own all the time. Pick a destination, jump in the car, and haul ass.
Keep traveling, keep exploring. As long as you're breathing, you can do anything.

Well, I can recommend the Netherlands. Lots to see, friendly people (in general). Also Germany is a good alternative. They all speak English quite well. That's a little less in France, but still Paris is the town to visit. The Dollar is a little weak though, so Europe is more expensive now. But if you plan well, you might limit the risks.

Wow. Single man, 5 days and 4 nights in New Orleans French Quarter, had fun. Who would have thought it possible.

I just asked my son, he is just back from 3 months solo mostly in Europe, he has no language skills, and says Greece and Italy. He cruised the Greek islands, and bused through Italy. Loved both.
