Exactly. I have been saying that too. If a multi-billion dollar company pays full-time employees so little that they qualify for government food assistance, who exactly are we subsidizing?

In my litle brain , that's what a great country is . A country that looks after its citizens at their hardest moments . A country that cares to have healthy citizens and citizens w bread on the table . Thirty and forty years ago , I only knew USA from movies and books . And in my mind , it was that country . Helped Europe and fed us , and helped Africa as I remeber from my tours there , the American help was always the most and the best .
When I first landed in USA I was impressed w the handicap spots , the consideration for kids , pregnant , sick . We don't have this in Italy and Greece . If u r in a chair , good luck ? I was impressed .
Of course , medical wasn't an issue for me bcz military wife at that time , I couldn't understand the misery and the bills bcz everything was free for me .
I had to go to university here and to be divorced 12 yr later and in the " real " world without the umbrella / government protection to understand and be sad . It took me 12 f years in America to understand that no , people are not equal apparently , and hard working folks don't get help and if they do , they treated like beggars .
The last 11 yrs that I live alone , I really understood what an idiot and what a Fox News parrot once I was .
I hope u still love me guys , but yeah , I was one of these assholes my first two years in USA . I couldn't understand until education took place .

me. i'm on welfare. i am disabled. i am old now too. i became disabled before i was technically (according to the government) old. i worked my ass off for my whole life and paid more taxes than i will ever get back in the form of food stamps that barely support me and social security that is insufficient as well. by the way, the social security comes from taxes i paid into the system specifically for that purpose. my welfare support doesn't come from the dickbag's taxes. those go to the war machine as well as the welfare recipients mamed above, who, by the way, diligently avoid paying taxes. they send their employees to collect welfare because they're too cheap to pay a living wage.
