People say that Christmas is a depressing time of year; I think it's valentines. What do you think?

Hate holidays that put a gun to your head. Non-holiday gift giving means much more.

I would have to agree. And it is about the worst weather time too. Dead of winter - still to far from Spring for real hope. Plus, of course, for me a reminder that I never found that person. Not that it much matters now. I've sort of given up. At least for the time being until some other stuff is fixed.

I like thanksgiving the best. Valentines day to you, means lonely, Is it feeling not loved>
I do not know but I find Valentines day a pain in the ass. When I am in a relationship I do Valentines a lot. Always happy to bring flowers and say that something special. Love yourself is the key

My least favorite “holiday” is father’s day, because I get angry all over again that my son’s dad has abandoned him.

BUT we take this opportunity to celebrate the great father figures in our lives.

WHY ARE WE DISCUSSING THIS BEFORE FEB 13?
Please let's not run valentines back into January.

I waited until February the second; I kept it well in the month.

For me, Christmas sucks more. Valentines can suck if you are single or have recently broken up with someone. Hang in there!

I know as for myself I’m generally stuck in a rut from mid November until at least June maybe it’s because it’s where I live and it’s always so damn cold

I think that people like to say "this is depressive, This is sad..." just to make more drama. I don't care about both of em...
If I want be festive I am. If I want enjoy my love company I do... and so on.

As far as I'm concerned, neither is really depressing, just cynical as all hell. I don't need some arbitrary holiday to tell me how to appreciate other people, I just do it as much as I can in my own way throughout the year. Though Christmas is probably a more depressing time simply because that entails family more than valentines. Valentines will simply hinge on the fact that you don't have some (possibly) romantic connection with someone, while Christmas usually involves a greater familial connection, While I don't feel depressed, Christmas is usually more uncomfortable to deal with due to my rather weak connection I have with family. valentines I can easily ignore since it's less in your face than Christmas which usually has like 2 months to propagate its nonsense.

i don't pay attention to official holidays; it's all christian crapola to me.

Both are depressing if you don't have close family, or a significant other. Id say Valentines day depresses more people though, most people have families and/or close friends with which to spend Christmas.

You are on your own on that one. My juices always flowing in valentine. I believe you create the bed where you laid down. If this is depressing let it grow. I already wrote my valentine poem in anticipation... changed my travel plans and looking forward to 3 dance dates in 8 days with the same old dance partner. But it is just my personal experience, my take.
