How much older or younger than you would you date someone? I'm a 41F, up to 20+ for me. I've always been attracted to much older men. Why? To me, they hold more stimulating conversations, there's more history, genuine affection. All my friends have also been much older too. I never hung out with younger folks or folks my age. I've never been attracted to anyone my age or younger either. If you're already with someone older or younger, I want to know how that's going.

Oh, to be 5 years younger.

1

Once spent many years with a brilliant woman who was over ten years my senior. When she was in he mid 40's she left the country for a guy in his early 20's.

2

my ex just turned 50 and @DoDapper is 4 years younger then me. it's more personality for me, and looks.

So you stay in my fold only for my looks?! 😉

@DoDapper and what's in your pants 😛

@coralisthree - I'd complain about the burn. But I have a firehose in My pants.

I'm not going to knock someone much younger being attracted to me if they can hold a conversation. But I would never hit on anyone much younger for fear of embarrassing both of us. I dated someone 17 years younger a while back and we got along great...it's all whether they have a brain and a sense of humor for me. I would go a bit older depending on how we both look.

I generally date 5 years younger or ten years older. Even though I’ll be 48 this month, I have kids in the early to mid teens. To date someone too old, they’re at a different stage of life.

Most of my relationships have been with women younger than myself. Great minds think alike because I posed this question a few weeks ago (see link below). 🙂

I like a little older, 2-5 years. Is that you and your man in the photo? If so , you're very pretty, him too. ??

No. I wish. It's a random picture. I'm not in any relationship.

@SleeplessInTexas I checked your profile... You are pretty.. ?? hugs

@Cutiebeauty Aww.. thank you. And you are as well.❤⚘

I guess I am not picky - whoever I click with. My long term relationships have been with guys pretty close to my age but I have dated younger & older (one was 20 years older). Age is just a number the important part is how you feel with each other, treat each other.

1

I've been with mostly younger...but I did have a long relationship with someone 11 years older. Age has never (as far as I know) been an issue. It seemed for most of my life I was dating 34 year olds.

2

I voted all three because I can be attracted to anyone of any legal age, though I’m not “dating”. My current relationships are with two much older and one much younger. I tend to form less connections with people my age.

So you're in a relationship with 3 people right now? Wow!?

@SleeplessInTexas Yes I am. I am poly. But that’s another can of worms isn’t it.

A gal at a restaurant I frequent (turns out she's the manager) is flirting with me, bringing me free drinks, hugs for greetings, runs across the restaurant to do that last and to make sure I have a hug good bye, that sort of thing. She doesn't have an updating tattoo with age on her forehead, neither do I, though I do have grey hair and a beard, many think I am no less than 10 years younger than my actual age.

Turns out she's better than 20 younger than me, and I didn't find this out until I was well and truly hooked on her. No, we haven't dated, it's still early days, but... well, the spark is there and I at least am interested in getting to know her better before moving forward. I have asked her about such and she is not opposed (though, we aren't progressing anywhere outside of the restaurant).

My sister has given me much flack for considering women younger than I, and women who are more than a few years younger. I don't have kids and hold out hope that, even at my age, this is possible. Outside of dating sites, I don't worry about age, I worry about attraction and compatibility. On dating sites, we have the luxury of having certain questions asked up front (leastwise, on eHarmony and others we do) such as "do you have, or want to have, children" and how old are you. I tend to filter there, but am open to that charming person who just catches my eye and I feel I need to get to know.

Unfortunately, no success yet. Neither through dating sites nor through real life.

none of the above. i am taken but if i were dating i would not worry about age at all.

The reason I voted for all 3. But I am having fun with much younger guys this time around.

@Carin my guy is three and a half years older than i am. he also has alzheimer's. it's tough to deal with but i am sticking with him.

g

@genessa So sorry to hear of your troubles! That must be incredibly difficult. I always preferred older guys before too. But "older" guys when I was last single were in their late 30's.

@Carin lol i spent my life single. i waited a long time for this one!

g

@genessa That gives us all hope then. Thanks for sharing that.

@Carin 🙂)

I've generally found that younger men hold far fewer sex role stereotypes of what they expect me to be and how they expect me to behave. Older men have been threatened or made angry when I was successful in what they considered 'their' area. Younger men applaud.
Now there is a limit. I find much more than ten years younger and we don't share cultural experiences. Once I had a date with someone and I mentioned Gilda Radner and he had no idea who she was. That was just one of a number of disconnects that resulted in that being our only date.
