My Props to the Parents of the Brave teenager. But then... something Ugly happened a few years later in the same country to the same "Brave teenager".

I would love to know what happened. I hope someone takes the time to find out.

And 3 years later he was convicted of armed robbery and will spend at least three years in jail. Lost his way I guess. 😟

Really?

@tnorman1236 Sadly, yeah. As Solzhenitsyn said, "The line between good and evil runs through every one of us."

Thanks for your contribution but rather than the line between good and evil... We most wonder what happened to you that at 15 you are a hero with a college fund for you and at 18 you are a common despicable criminal? What kind of a Nation can turn a hero into this type of criminal? The choices you make... the company you keep?

@GipsyOfNewSpain Interesting that I can't access that link from the EU as we enforce data protection regulations and the site doesn't want to comply with them.

One good deed does not determine who you are and whether or not you are willing to live by the rule of law in your society.

@Uncorrugated Is not that it should or not... but... when I was 6 I fought along with my kid sister and my grandmother a would be Rapist. Mainly was my grandmother... defending the teenager help of the house. I can do many things but I know I couldn't be a Rapist based on that incident. It formed me for the rest of my life... Maybe is the reason why I couldn't be a junkie also... he was also that and was killed a few minutes later after abandoning our house by the Police. When a policeman kills a perp... I don't feel that sorry for the perp... but I recognize a lot of innocent also being killed by the police. His good deed should had changed his life forever... Like I said... the company you keep... the choices you make. I lived and hanged out with guys that became all kinds of criminals I guess. I made my choices when to stop the friendships... when to stop following those going in the wrong direction. He should had honored that moment of his life as "Special". He just destroyed that good deed... that moment that should had honored him forever. Very interesting case of taking the wrong turn... the choices are always in front of us. Is the decisions we make that's going to determine your future. I had them before me... like many others. Is what you do at that moment. There is no excuse, really. Is your life and what you make of it.

@GipsyOfNewSpain At 15 years old, his path was probably already set. Over the years I have worked with many teenagers in and out of the criminal justice system in the UK. Even armed robbers will often do their best to protect the children around them - it doesn't have the slightest effect on their world view that it is ok to take other people's stuff.
For you, the incident when you were six had a profound impact on you life. At 15, much of your world view has been formed and one good deed to protect a child won't significantly affect how you conduct the rest of your life.

@Uncorrugated I can only speak of myself. Don't know the dude or his parents, don't listen to the music he listened. I thank you for your effort to guide the youth and the young. I know is a rewarding task and at the same time a lot of them do not care or are damaged beyond repair... Our Society is Pretty Sick despite the Effort of a Lot of Good People. I Salute You.

@GipsyOfNewSpain Thank you. Even the bad ones ahve lots of good in them. Good/bad is really a matter of perspective. Respect is earned. When kids (that I generally work with) have been shown no respect and abused throughout their lives, is it a surprise that they lack respect for others around them and their rules?
Not as simple as that, but you get the idea of how this can impact on young people's lives (and old people for that matter).

@Uncorrugated They need examples...
