So you're an Atheist?
How can you ever know what the truth is?
Does anyone else have proof of their truth?

I start with, and assume common knowledge that, one plus one is two.

Can't agree with that? There is no need for you to exist.

@Jacar
If you can't agree with that your common sense isn't as common as you may think. Transistor logic is switching on and off circuits to compose computer language. True or false, on or off, this way or that way, click here and several micro calculations later you're there.
One plus one is two on and off plus false is true.
Thank you, I exist and it's true because one and one is two.
Sorry, but I'm having fun and I mean no disrespect, but other comments give me inspiration. I especially like this one you made. Very simple.

Talk about something that is silly, random and fun! Oh well, two out of three ain't bad. 🙂

Oh well is right. I can't dwell on what other people think. If I did I wouldn't comment at all. If my ideas are too far out there for others to accept at least I'm learning something and they don't have to comment. I assume all comments are in good fun if that's not the case set me straight. I can agree or not and that's the beauty of the mind.
Clearly silly and random so I assume it's not fun for you. Oh well, I'll agree, 2 out three ain't bad.
Thanks for your honesty.

The burden of proof rests upon those who claim nonsense.

I don't need proof that there are no gods. That is quite obvious to me..

It's written from me to me, to share. My supernatural soul was my last hurdle to overcome.
Is there an afterlife?
It can't be proven or disproved so why use faith?

@flower_nut . . . I am an agnostic - anti-theist.

I'm with Penn Jillette on this:
Agnostic and atheist answer two different questions:

We cannot know fur shur how our universe started: agnostic (without knowledge)

There ain't no all powerful invisible critters fucking with humans on the earth: atheist (there is no reliable proof of such a being.)

And I agree with Sam, and Christopher,... I am an anti-theist because I oppose religionists imposing their mental illness on all us good folks.

@Jacar
What if I suffer from mental illness?
I get what you're saying and agree.
Let's be clear on what I believe.
Consider what's missing as unknown.

  1. The universe is billions of years old.
  2. God is an option to answer anything.
  3. We developed somewhere in between.
  4. Science is the learning curve to the method we now use and improve on as discoveries are made.
    As far as articulating the anti-theist piece Religion scares the fuck out of me and creates mental illness for those who oppose it. Do you live in fear of 2 Chronicles 15:13 because it blows my mind people take that shit literally?
    We can all help each other and live a peaceful life without God, the supernatural, magic and even the Bible.
    I like how you put the labels in context for me. I do appreciate comments and don't mind being called out on silly posts I put up. After all, this group is silly, random and fun. It describes me pretty good.
    I agree with Matt Dillahunty for the record.

@flower_nut """Religion scares the fuck out of me and creates mental illness for those who oppose it"""
If you mean makes us crazy to know we are surrounded by true loonies, i'm with you.

There are no silly posts. Just silly people. (Silly in the UK sense of village idiot.)

Too dumb a question to begin an answer 😉

What's dumb is not coming to this site sooner. Wink! Wink!
Somewhere in the middle of nowhere and you decide to see where you are.

This entire post is word salad worthy of Deepak Chopra or David Blender Salesman Wolfe.

Wow! You got me there. I'm not sure what you mean. Without researching this too much thank you, I think.
Sorry, but my vocabulary is limited to several books yet to read. Putting beliefs aside I have other challenges that I'm working on.

No one needs to prove nothing. It just is as is gravity. Just there is all. The rest is our minds entertaining ourself with what we want to hear.

Reaching my position at my age is liberating. I never really asked the tough questions and when I did wow! It didn't take long for me to arrive at my current position. Maybe because I stayed away from the Bible and had no knowledge of it.
Magic is a strong word to a theist. “There's no such thing as magic” - Harry Potter.
It's hard to prove magic and if you believe in magic doesn't mine prove it?
I don't want to annoy people, but I like to have fun too.
The flat earth taught me something.

"When the supernatural disappears.
it's proof of magic"

Maybe 'magic' means mystery, and god/supernatural can no longer serve as an adequate explanation.

I think we are born with the capacities to be logical, reasonable and moral, but these practices are learned and vary according to place.

"How can you ever know what the truth is?"

What is truth...you address like it's the desk in front of you? I think truth is a way, an expansion, not an Ideal.

cava Level 7 Oct 27, 2018

I am being sarcastic when I say “proof of magic”. I went from wanting to believe in magic to prove it can't exist.
This is my truth. Only I can understand it and share it for others to discuss or be disgusted.
I wish you well and I'm not lying.
Thank you for commenting

what truth? truth isn't a universal thing. you can't find a thing called the truth, THE truth. there are truths ABOUT stuff. it's true that i have a sore throat right now. it is not true that i can fly like a bird. but one truth, like, oh that's what the universe is all about, that's what life is all about? no. no such thing. just another magical thing, like a god, a unicorn or the tooth fairy, not one of which exists. no truth there.

g

@TheAstroChuck thanks. just got back from urgent care. doc helped my knee, and my asthma, had nothing for the throat, now sore more than three weeks. "virus," he said, sadly. just have to wait it out. more waiting.

g

@genessa
I didn't realize how popular the word "truth" is on this site.
I have my truth and I can't prove it, just like everybody else.
Three weeks with a sore throat is something I'm familiar with.
Thanks for the comment and get well soon.

@TheAstroChuck i think i'll make a brew of goldenseal and echinacea and start that up again.

g

@flower_nut thanks. yes, we have our truths, sometimes even based on facts lol, but we have personal truths that are not universal -- even something as simple as "celery tastes bad," which is true for me and not true for celery fans. some people have the personal truth that they have to go live in the woods and commune with bears. i'm a city gal, myself.
