USN 72-75, two WESTPACS & Concord Naval Weapons Station. Remembering active duty & vets on Veteran's Day!

I did some work at NSWC Crane. Naval munitions make ground artillery look tiny LOL

@Veteran229 Which is why my AE (Ammunition/Oiler) went to Concord, rather than San Diego. Put that stuff under a mountain rather than in a harbor with everything else!

@phxbillcee The bunkers are quite small. Gerders and concrete with a few feet of dirt.

You don't call it Armistice day in the states? 11th hour, 11th day of the 11th month?
In Australia, our "veterans day" is 25th of April, ANZAC day (Australia New Zealand Army Corp).

[en.m.wikipedia.org]

It hasn't been called Armistice Day in many years, ya'know the dumbing down thing. I remember my grandparents referring to it as Armistice day.

Me, Army Security Agency Oct 70 to Oct 74.

I was ASA as well. I was an O5H, Morse code intercept operator. I was in the 409th ASA Company, Augsburg in 1981 to 1983. Also worked NSA at Ft. Meade.

@HippieChick58
Same here Paula, Ft. Devens to Augsburg but instead of Ft. Meade I was in the Pentagon for two years. ? Small world.

@Anonbene Wow!! Have you seen Patch Barracks now? It doesn't exist any more. Google Maps is fascinating. I was also in Okinawa, which again has changed beyond recognition.

@HippieChick58
I looked the army security agency on Wikipedia one time to find out it no longer exists. I didn't like what the army was doing by the time I got out so I never reminisce about those days.

@Anonbene One of my previous jobs had "lulls" and I'd keep busy creatively. One night I used Google Maps to look at all (and I do mean all) my previous addresses. I feel sorry for those whose glory days were so far in the past. The Army was not my glory days, they were a means to an end. I was not a good fit for the Army and happy to leave it. I'd love to go back to Germany and Japan one day, and a few hundred other places. I regard my time in the Army as part of what made me who I am today. That and my kids can say "my momma wore combat boots!"

@HippieChick58
Did you have a top secret crypto clearance too? Mine got me to travel all over with Generals and top Sargents on temp duty trips. That was pretty cool. I remember having different COs yell, Canavan
Yes sir
Pack up you have orders.
Where to?
That's above my clearance. ?

@Anonbene Yes, I had clearances. My ex was an O3 when we married. (I was an E5 and got out shortly after we were married) He was also MI and ASA. At one time we were stationed in Stuttgart, he had a briefcase locked to his wrist and was aboard a helicopter at 10pm flying to Aviano.

@HippieChick58
Yup. I use to deliver stuff to some general and told to wait for a reply but not to read it also to carry some guys briefcase while he got drunk in some officers club or seedy bar somewhere. Half the time I didn't even know where I was.
