Does anyone else here actually sit and think about the philosophical ideas of God, Love, ... and other bits of crap that come up through living

OK .. throw this into the cauldren. I believe totally (I hope rationally) in reincarnation.
This earth, and the whole universe, is nade up of billions of atoms. My body is a collection of those atoms, put together to form 'me'. When I die I will become a lump of meat, just like any other animal ... simply a collection of salts, amino acids, proteins, water etc. When a tree or other inanimate life dies, it becomes the same. But all of 'me' is recycled by nature.
My decaying body will split apart .. blood and water may soak into the ground, flesh eaten by bacteria and other animals, bones slowly decay to dust ... but all of those proteins, minerals etc will become a part of new life in the animals and plants that consume me .. or maybe be trapped in the rock or soil for thousands of years, till eventually some life form absorbs that little atom of 'me'.
All part of the natural world .. and to me, it is reincarnation.
I hope to (following a quietish death) be devoured by a large carnivore

That's what this whole forum is about. Everything is on the table for a freethinker, but our lack of credulity often disappoints hopeful theists.

I do. As a retiree I have plenty of time for pondering things, and I am getting stimulating ideas from this forum.

I don’t wrestle with the God question however. “God” has become an inappropriate word IMO for public discussions. But there is Nature, and what a marvel is Nature! This Nature of which we speak—she created herself, decreed immutable laws, and brought life into existence. Nature is awash with conscious awareness, the crown jewel of existence! I love and worship Nature.

Whatever we call it—Nature, Ultimate Reality, Universal Consciousness, or (heaven forbid) God, its essence is a profoundly deep mystery. IMO, it is not something to be believed or disbelieved. We are it and it is us.

Totally agree with the immutability of nature .. we are part of a natural cycle .. I still question if there is some 'entity' that set up 'nature .. something that set up and controls what you call 'brought life into existence'. I don't see this entity as a god, ie something to be venerated, simply something that exists .. simply as a power, life force, or whatever, no more to be worshiped than lightning, hurricanes or other natural force.

@ShadowAmicus I wasn’t using “worship” in the religious sense.

I think a lot of people who say they worship God actually are just going through the motions—presenting a show of worshiping.

I worship Ultimate Reality in the sense of realizing its staggering implications and being totally confounded and left with a feeling of profound awe and appreciation.

I think about these things in as much as living my life has brought me to certain logic and reasoning. I care little of classic masters or what Plato said. Books written by living people today have more relevance to me on things going on in the world. I believe that our world is all about getting money any way that the greedy can. The rich want your money and the world has already made too many widgets at widget factories. What is left is to sell us all on goods and services. If you want to get rich focus on those areas.

As for gods and deities I realize today that I was duped. There are no such things. Making you believe otherwise is yet another way of getting your money. I do pity the poor merchants. This year they started in right after Halloween. They just cannot get enough.

God may be crap, but love is not. Neighborly love is the best foundation for all ethical rules.

would you die for your neighbours .. or tone down love to 'a mutual respect'

@ShadowAmicus I might risk my life to save others. Hell, I am an army veteran, and that's what volunteering for military service is all about. But mostly, neighborly love does come down to mutual respect.

@BestWithoutGods Hi .. me too. Long ago I would have given my life for queen and country (came too close too often).... now too old and cynical of politicians motives to get involved. But for three women, my dog and the Taj Mahal I would readily fight and if required die to save them
