Any minute that I am not working, I am sleeping. I will take nyquil every time I wake up.

Usually knock it out of me in 3 days

With 1,000 mg of Vitamin C, Emergen-C dietary supplement provides electrolytes, essential nutrients, antioxidants, manganese and zinc.

Emergen-C can shorten your cold by days! At the first sign of a sniffle, I start taking it and often don't get sick.

My doctor recommended I use a Neti-pot daily because I'm prone to sinus infections. This stops my chronic, nasal drip.

My preventive is flu shots and lots of hand sanitizer when I go out in public during cold and flu season.

If I do those two things faithfully I seldom get ill despite my diabetes theoretically making me more vulnerable. Still, I catch colds more often than I used to and they are worse on average than they used to be. Two years ago for the first time I ended up with the complication of conjunctivitis (a polite way of saying your eyes are painfully swollen and you can barely open them to see for, like, 2 or 3 weeks). Since I am motivated by the avoidance of such clear negatives, I have gotten as paranoid about touching things or exposing myself to sniffly people as an asthmatic is to the slightest difficulty breathing. It's no way to live, but it beats the alternatives, I guess.

Much the same but regular cider very negative and honey seems to keep the pesky viruses away before they become debilitating

Take zinc... It can shorten your cold by days! I take zinc every day and rarely ever get a cold.

I have a pretty intensive regimen which usually gets rid of a cold within two to three days. When I tell people what it is, they usually opt to just deal with having a cold for a couple of weeks.

Well now, I gotta know

If not prescription meds, usually Nyquil or alla seltzer cold tabs always seem to work for me?

For me lots of water, sleep and fresh air. Taking a walk usually sounds awful but I always feel better afterwards. It gets my blood moving ?

I'd put a bit of honey and ginger root in your tea. It's soothing to the throat, if it's sore, and the anti-inflamitory properties of the ginger root helps to keep the swelling of the tonsils (if you still have yours) down.
