I live near an old GM SITE where they were dumping illegal PCB'S IN AN OPEN PIT near my home. Its taken over 30 years in court to get them to clean it up.. at first the pit caught on fire spontaneously, and then they capped it with clay. Finally they have been forced to clean it up. It's costing them greatly. I"m sure there are other sites like this with GM. IT'S going to take years for them to extract all the PCBS AND OTHER deadly chemicals they illegally dumped.

What evidence do you have to support the argument that Ford took a one billion dollar loss and how do you know that it was caused by the president's tariffs?

I find that evidence based arguments are more persuasive than name-calling.

He HAS NO EVIDENCE. He thinks that everyone should have to google to find information that supports his hypothesis.

@maturin1919 When an individual makes a fact based claim, the onus lies on the person making the claim to supply supporting evidence (i.e. a link to a newspaper article). Because another member of the community was kind enough to supply this link, I can now accept Ford's loss as factual. However, my second question, remains unanswered.

@maturin1919 I have neither the time nor the energy to research other people's theses. I research my own arguments which is time consuming enough.

@Uncorrugated There is no claim in this article that Ford's loss in profits was a result of the president's tariffs.

@Diogenes1972 I never said there was. It was the first link I found to confirm the likely closure of GM plants.

@Uncorrugated I appreciate that. You're correct. I should have addressed my comment to the original author of this post.

@Diogenes1972 I suspect that a little like the UK car industry in the seventies, GM (and Ford) in the states have lagged behind other manufacturers in recent years with their manufacturing practices and development. The biggest sellers in the market where they are closing down production are Tesla and the Japanese companies that dominate that sector. Ford is only surviving on its pick-up sales and its operations in Europe. Both are decades behind in EV and hybrid technology.

Google is your friend. [msnbc.com];

@Secretguy I'm not googling just because you don't want to cite a reference for your post. If you are proclaiming something...it is up to YOU to provide the evidence. Same as we require from religious people. If you don't provide evidence to back up your statement or news summary, that's on you and not on me.

@SkotlandSkye So you're lazy. No skin off my ass. And, by the way, a link is above.

@SkotlandSkye But just to make it ever easier for you. [fortune.com]

@Secretguy I'm pretty sure you are the one who was too lazy to provide a link. Like I said, it was ON YOU, NOT ME to provide evidence to your statement. As others...not just me, pointed out. You can try to pass the buck, but it stops with you.

A buddy of mine works in the aerospace industry. He's a machinist. He said orders are way down and the company is laying off workers because of the price of steel.
