I paid for tickets to Universal Studios, Orlando. As soon as I found out; I called them, but they can't tell who bought them.

A couple of years ago my sister signed up for car insurance at Geico. For some reason, the company used my debit card instead of hers to pay for it (her name is Diana, while my name is Dana). When I called to inquire, they refused to give me any information because I was not the policy holder. Then my sister called to inquire, they refused to give her any information other than she had a policy since the debit card wasn't hers.

It too me several days going up the pipeline and calling my bank to get this straightened out. I shudder to think about the crap hoops I would have had to jump through if it was a stranger who did it to me. I still get emails from the company with my sister's name on them trying to get me to come back.

Cancel that credit card NOW!

That's the first thing I did.

wrong entity to call. you call the bank, the bank calls universal. universal may not even be allowed to tell youj who bought them, but they can tell bank investigators, and meantime you need to get those charges paid back to you and your card canceled, maybe your account, depending on how the payment was made. your bank should be on top of this, but since they're not, you PUT them on top of this!

a few months ago, our bank called us and said there had been suspicious activity. someone out in california (we're in mn) had tried to buy a car with my guy's debit card! the bank denied it, and some other big stuff. they let some small stuff through but i caught it, since they put me on the scent, and they reversed those charges too.

I went to the bank first. I just called universal studios in the hope that I could glean enough info from them to ruin the vacation I paid for. 😟 No luck.

@JimG ah okay, good. not that i doubted you, but sometimes when something like this happens we get discombobulated. it would be understandable!

@genessa no problem. I never get offended by good advice. Someone else may benefit from your suggestion some day.

@JimG 🙂) one posts to the poster or to a commentator but one also posts for the benefit of the odd lurker!

I recently had an unauthorized purchase made on my debit card. I immediately went to the bank to have my debit card canceled and get a new one.

I did that too, but they said the investigation to refund me will probably take 10 days, but it can take 45 - 90.
