The Suffragette Who Knew Jiu-Jitsu

from a 1910 Punch...

Once upon a time I actually researched this, and the cartoon was inspired by a news story of the time about a few suffragettes learning martial arts to protect themselves.

Regardless of the background story, I still find the cartoon amusing.
