I wonder the same, but I rather doubt the spineless politicians we have at present time won't be discussing atheism in the public eye anytime soon.

I had a grandmother that absolutely hated christians or anyone preaching to her. When she died my very christian mother kept insisting she went to heaven. I pointed out to my mother that she has spent several decades telling us we won't get to heaven unless we believe and profess our faith. So how come grandma now gets a free pass. Pointing this out did not go over well.

Who knows? Will be interesting to have a non-christian funeral for a high level politician.

You might see it on the Dem side, but the Reps still need the evangelical vote, so they will never admit to atheism.
