I don't see any group categories relating to families, or intimately close personnel relationships that have been torn apart because of religion. Surely I can't be the only person severely impacted by this unnecessary discoarse.

Haven't communicated with any of my mother's or father's family in over a decade. They live religious lives and don't want to associate with a "devil worshiper," and I will not put up with anyone who lives as a delusional fundamentalist.

I can’t keep up with more than one group (must be aging), but you are not alone with broken relationships over religion. With some close relatives, it feels more like we came from different species! There is a good possibility that the current political climate has played a part in the Religious discord! Because I can remember not to far back, when you were not treated like poison, in your own family, because you held a different religious belief! I did have experiences, with Sunday School teacher, and acquaintances that were hurtful, then it moved down to my family members! But, I have adapted and living the best life, that I can put together, it is disappointing but not life threatening, that some of my family can’t see me as a person...and just judge me by my character! It gets to be ok, but it stays with you/me! Best of luck!

My family and personal relationships were greatly affected by religious differences. I am living happily without those people in my life, so I'm not sure I need to talk too much about it now. Too much time has passed to want to bridge those gaps now.

BUT, I remember at the time, it would have been nice to be able to express my sadness and have some validation reflected back to me from like-minded folks about the unfairness and insecure meanness of those people who chose to cut me out of the family and friendships, simply because I have a different view of religion than they did.

A support group sounds nice. It might be therapeutic for many of us. Good idea!

there is a religion and spirituality category and a family & parenting category. one can choose one or post the same thing in both.

No you are not - you might try a search by the religion in question though? We have some ex-everything I'm sure. And that is likely where they discuss it.

I think HR frowns on close personnel relationships. 🙂
