Update on my car situation.

I had it towed to the mechanics, because I failed to figure it out.

It was supposed to be done today before 3.

It was not done today before 3.

At 458 I called the shop and asked if they figured it out at least, prepared to hear the word starter or alternator or solenoid.

Turns out I was actually in the right area when I changed the lock cylinder. The ignition went out.

They can start it from the engine, but can't fix the ignition. It has to be done by a licensed ford specialist. So in the morning I get to go to the shop, have them hotwire my car, take my car 35 miles to the next town, and have the ford dealership switch out the ignition.

At least it won't cost 600 bucks. But I'll be carless for another day and a half.

The best thing to use in this car repair subject is auto repair shop management software. This is a great way to make your life easier. If you are going to be working on cars, you need to make sure that everything is going well with them. You will want to have an auto repair shop management software system like Autoleap that makes it easy for you to keep track of all of the different parts and pieces used on your cars. Make sure that you take advantage of the benefits of using this type of software.

Theft preventative ignitions, always a major pain. Special tools and procedures, done in a service bay with covering on the windows,so you and I have no idea what was done. Maybe a small animal was sacrificed to the ignition "Powers that be"?

Good luck on this. 🙂

Maybe that makes it a good thing that I bring mine to the dealer. I hear that you get ripped off that way, but I brought it to my ex's favorite place early on and it was no less expensive.

I've been screwed badly by mechanics that weren't at the dealerships. It's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic anymore, so it's almost worth it to pay more for the dealership because at least they guarantee their work.

My last mechanic before this one was my family mechanic for 15 years until u realized he was loosening other things when he fixed something so that we would come back more often

@LadyAlyxandrea I took one vehicle to the mechanic that my step mom had been going to for years. He ended up parking it without locking it and the contents got stolen. I think that she went there for his looks. He had piercing blue eyes.

Another time my dad took me and my vehicle to his mechanic and said give it whatever it needs. They did a shitload of work, hardly any of it necessary, but at least I wasn't paying for it. It did run better after.

Ironic. I'm replacing the starter and solenoid on my car today. I wish my garage was clear. It sucks working in the cold.

I hear you. I don't have a garage so I had to work in the cold too

We are having a similar problem with a Ford Taurus. Starts easy won't go forward or back. Dash light says theft prevention. No one can analyze the problem except the dealer. Infuriating. I hate new car computers. The problem could be the key, the tranny or twenty other things. $1500 so far and Tranny shop says I have to bring it to the dealer now. So fucking happy I had to pay for a new tranny for no reason. We, consumers, are just screwed suckers now. Obama's cash for clunkers has really hurt the shade tree mechanics and us poor people. We consumers can only bring our cars to dealers now. This sucks. $110 to plug the laptop in to analyze the problem. WTF? They won't sell the software to analyze the problem either. Grrr

Yeah, mine wants 120 to run a diagnostic but I said no. I was 98% sure it was the ignition, the mechanic is 98% sure it's the ignition, every 08-12 ford escape owner on the internet has the same problem and says it's the ignition. We tested the starter and alternator....

"Legal Hotwiring".

Um if you have towing on your car? That's covered btw. They'll do that.

That's why I always had towing on my car. Even if it only happened once a year it pays for itself.

Lol I mean...is it illegal to hotwire your own car? I promise not to use what I learn for nefarious purposes ???

my insurance only covers towing to the nearest shop, and unfortunately that means....the shop...it's already....at....?

Luckily I don't mind just driving it up to the dealership as long as I get there lol

@LadyAlyxandrea I know - it just sounds like an Oxymoron? Or maybe just a tad criminal. Maybe you can add it to your resume? "I know how to legally hotwire a car". 😉

Yup that did not occur to me. The insurance scam. That the insurance pulls. (Sigh).

I hear you. What a royal pain. Hang in there.

@RavenCT I just want my car back so bad. I have actual anxiety attacks without it. It's my emotional support vehicle. Plus normally it's fine I can drive my moms van if I haaaave to...
Heated steering wheel...don't know how that's not standard. So lux I almost don't hate vans as much lol. Normally I can take her van because she's an unemployed shut in who never leaves the house anyway.

Except today she had a dental appointment for her new dentures.

So I had to take my dads "car". You have no idea how awful this thing is. It's a 2012 ford focus station wagon. A kid I went to high school with sold it to him against my protests.

Reynaldo had lowered the frame, broke the seat so it leans back and cockeyed, broke the temperature shit, and installed a neon laser radio that blinds you. It has zero shocks (poor mans hydraulics I guess) and is just a giant piece of garbage. I dislocated my knee getting in. Then because of how the seat leans all gangsta hoopty style, my back locked up tighter than Alcatraz, and I feel like I get road rash on my ass I'm basically laying on the ground.

And the cruise control doesnt work. -,-

My back hurtsssss

I miss my car so much I'm never gonna call it crappy again it was worth fixing the tranny and everything else just as long as I never have to drive that thing again

@LadyAlyxandrea You need to write a book a out cars. It would be epic! And maybe the other crazy stuff too?
I see a future Jennie Lawson.... ?

@RavenCT people keep saying I should write books...
