Everything is good in moderation, I feel that most of the artificial sweeteners are far worse than sugars.
My job as a parent didn't end when my kids got married or moved out on their own. Nearly every event is an opportunity to educate provided you don't overdue it - you gotta find the right balance. When I saw my daughter allow my 9-month old grand baby to have some soda - I damn near flipped my lid. I kept it cool and let it pass. Several hours later I sent her a couple of links that detailed the harm of introducing kids to soda and a bunch of other sugary snacks. No words were passed - no egos harmed - she's free to process it however she wishes - but the subtle message was clear. Grandparents aren't just about spoiling the grand kids - our job is on going and so this nonsense that we can do whatever we want because in a few hours or minutes we give them back to the parents constitutes child abuse in my opinion.
Being a grandparent is so much more fun than that whole parenting shit job! I keep copious amounts of sugar at home and in my pockets at all times. I am also learning to cuss not only in English, but in Spanish and Mandarin, so as to teach my granddaughter and enable a better chance for her in the connected world of tomorrow!
I agree - I love the grandparent gig! All the love with much less work. My favorite word around my grandkids is "Yes"!
It's bad for the parents when the kids are sent home.
Sugar in excess, can cause weight gain, maybe increasing the chance of childhood diabetes....
That's why my granddaugher's mom needs to limit her sweet intake when she's at home. As for me, I'm a granddad, and I did my time raising MY daughter, so that shit doesn't fall into my job requirements anymore! Hehehe!
