They're both good, but it depends on various factors: what you're eating, what the weather's like and what's on a "3 for £/$10" special offer.

I like a good rosé.

I prefer white, but I get a headache right away. I enjoy red wine with dinner
but do it so rarely because I dine alone so couldn't name one.

Ellen, you need to get out and meet people so that you do not have to dine alone.

@PeterJohn I live in a town of 12,000. I know many of them. I don't do small talk and don't suffer fools. Hence my solitude is often my refuge.

Red sweet wine.. nothing like it.. but my fave is chocolate infused red wine.. omg.. to die for.. tell you what.. keep that stuff away from me on a day thats not going good.. I would drink that entire bottle in one sitting no prob.

Heavy, hearty foods like red meat demand a bold red. Lighter fare like fish or pasta, I like white, which I also like to sip through the evening. A Chardonnay having gone through secondary lactic fermentation is lovely - has sort of a buttery flavour that I like.

Red. My favorite is Il Bastardo, a grocery store Sangiovese.

Red - merlot - specifically. I am not a big fan of wine, it can give me a headache and not the hang over type.

Mix it up and expand your horizons..
Go to a couple of wine tastings and wineries.
It's fun , educational, and wine people tend to be a pretty nice group.
Wineries usually have some pretty nice musical entertainment too.

As a former wine salesman I can honestly say, Neither is better than the other. It is pure preference.
If you like a $100 bottle of wine drink that, if you like a $5 bottle thats fine too.
As a rule, wine should be paired with food. We as Americans do a bad job of this, usually just drinking it to be drinking it. Think white wine for white food. (pork, chicken, pastas with cream sauce)
Reds for "meaty" foods. Steak, pasta with red sauces, duck, game animals)
But again, whatever is best to you is best.

It depend on the season for me, whites in spring summer, reds in fall winter..

White 'line?' How many have you had?

1

White lines. Definitely, white lines. 😉

They are both good with different foods and ondifferent occasions. For general consumption, I prefer white.

Zinfandel - so neither!

Pink is best! I know that makes me a peasant - but dry wine gives me a raging migraine.

@twshield rofl

I think you mean white zin, which is typically found in boxes nowadays? Zinfandel wines, which I particularly enjoy, are a deep red. Some of the best old vine zins are to be found near Lodi, California.

@pnullifidian Thank you! Back in The Day it was just Zinfandel! Old as dirt some days. White Zin.. Hanging wine drinking head in shame.

@RavenCT No shame needed ... there are times when a 'fun wine' is appropriate. Even though I may have grown up in Napa Valley (it used to be quaint and quiet), and have my "big red" fave's, to be a wine snob is not my style.

@pnullifidian Also No not from boxes. Not even a screw top. California Wineries.

@pnullifidian And that's where I learned about wine. I did have a Red recently that wasn't crazy dry and no migraine! I'm swirling it and looking at the legs - and all my siblings who also have done the wine trail were "What are you doing?". Peasants. rofl My sister lives in Napa. Was darn scary during the fires.

@RavenCT Darn scary, indeed! I have friends who lost their home in Santa Rosa. I am fortunate to live south of San Francisco, on the Peninsula. I lived in Napa for 4 years as a child, and then moved to the region now known as Howell Mountain (near St. Helena). I was there during the fires of 1964, which, much like the Tubbs fire, began near Calistoga.

For me red wine, sauvinon or merlo,I do not like white wine, too sour.

My girlfriend prefers white, but I prefer red, so white wins, although I prefer brandy

Don't know if it's just misspelled on your post, but I'll take the "white line" every time and no I'm not referring to wine.

ooohhh!

Yes, it was a typing error agnostic doesn't allow editing once people start reading whatever you posted, do any if you know the latter?

Red. Dry reds like Chianti. Pairs well with fava beans.

It's largely a matter of taste. I enjoy strong, harsh flavors, like peaty scotches and spicy food. Dry red wines fall into that category and even the milder stuff is good for a bold palate. White wines are much smoother.

Who eats fava beans?

It is personal preference, but I really like our local micro-brews. Not a wine drinker. Lol.
