My cat plays fetch and gets into thing for attention. He lays in my lap like a little kid and snuggles me, very comforting. My best friend.

I had a cat that, when I was home, had to be with me at all times. Mostly liked to sit on my shoulder and stare at my face.
My dogs stay in the house and bring me comfort....my cat(s) stay outside and hold down the mouse population. I show appreciation by leaving a way into my shop, and occasionally putting out some food.....and the squirrels tease them both...
