It seems that 90% of the women in my search range haven't signed in since October or before. Is there anybody in my area that's for real? Has anybody from the Northwest Indiana area had some success with making real friends and meeting real people?

Not many people in my area of any gender either. I suspected when I joined that I would not find a match because I live in a small town full of rednecks and retirees

I stay to interact with people that are non religious. I try to log on twice a day for an hour to skim topics. Occasionally I check for new people in my area but rarely find one. And most of them are still level 1 so they aren't actually using the site.

If you decide to not use the site then when some future person logs on, then you are contributing to your area having a dearth of users.

I'm sticking around. The site is interesting enough and making friends from different places is a very desirable thing for me as well so I'm not going anywhere. Yet. lol

this site is different from other dating sites. it's not just that it's a dating site AND a community. it's that the dating site, like others, really isn't that effective on its on, nor should it be. a dating site is a terrible way to find a date! but combined with community it could be great. the thing is, nobody wants to date someone who's looking for a date. everyone wants to date a person they like. how do they know they like you? from a profile? profiles are good but come on, anyone can write whatever they want. from a picture? what someone looks like isn't ultimately what attracts others, and some folks are quite nice-looking but unphotogenic, and who KNOWS whose picture is really that person anyway? no, it's what the person is like, and the community is one way to find that out BEFORE making a more personal approach. you have made two posts, this one and one about why you're not at level 2 (and that, by the way, is why you're not at level 2). you have made no comments on anything anyone else has had to say on any topic in any category. how is someone supposed to get to know you? how are you supposed to get to know someone? participate in the community. the points will come and you may make friends. some of the friends will be potential dates when you get to know each other here in the community. see how that works?

The process isn't my issue. The fact that only three people in a fifty-mile radius from 40 to 60 have signed in since October that makes me have doubts about sticking around.

@JoeH1A well, of course one cannot control that. my advice still stands.

The site is only a littelmore than a yer old. It is still growing. Until it reaches a certain size, I dont' think the dating aspects of the site will really work, but I hve heard of peopel who actually met on the site, so it isnt' hopeless either.

There probably isn't anybody for you. This isn't instant date.

Nor do I expect "instant date". The fact that so few people have signed in within a 50-mile radius of me in the last three months is what makes me have doubts about meeting friends let alone a date, lol. I'm going to hang out. Some of the group posts are interesting and I'd like to know people from all over the country and the world anyway.

My youngest daughter lives in Hollywood btw. She works in the arts. I hope to get out there soon. I'm going to start touring the National Parks this year, assuming they'll be open. I'd like to eventually relocate to the Pacific Northwest. I meant no disrespect to the site. I'm just not seeing the opportunities to talk to and get to know many local people. I have no problem finding a "date" if that's all I was looking for.
