Letterman was a dick to many of his guests...and as a previous responder said, it got to be that the only funny bit was the top 10

I've seen Leno in person twice at comedy clubs.....never saw Letterman in person.
Can't say that I watched either one of them with any regularity....I've generally always had a work schedule that included mornings, so I've been an "early to bed, early to rise" kind of person.

Now that my schedule allows for later nights if I choose, both Leno and Letterman are retired and, I still don't watch late night TV.

Steven Colbert.

Letterman's humor was too quirky for me (except for the top 10 lists). Leno was more my style, but Colbert is my real favorite.

is that the choice? really? and are you talking about the shows, neither of which i watched regularly or even enough to say i watched them, or the people? i think letterman's show was intolerable. leno's was tolerable. but as people, i think they're probably both pretty cool, albeit not of any especial interest to me. i am not a fan in any sense of the word of either of them. if you mean talk show hosts specifically, i am a dick cavett fan.
