Prisoners hardly have alternative ways out...not like they can catch a plane, grab a ride in a truck, or present papers for asylum...you have a very dumb friend...

Does that person know that prison walls SURROUND the prison and that prisoners are kept in barred cells inside?

@slydr68 Oh well..perhaps you could get them to rethink this with some common sense, although, just as for the orange clown, the wall chant has become an earworm to his supporters...no thinking allowed

I went to Hadrian's wall...or should I say Hadrian's rubble. Walls do create a good building source for generations of farmers to build their houses with!

It's a funny but silly meme. Especially since the 4 billion was requested by border patrol for security measures

@slydr68 yes a wall is only part of the equation

People post some dumb shit on FB. I get it all the time. Makes me question some of my friendships.

@slydr68 UGH! Even worse.

Prison walls keep people in, not out. Also, lets see them build a "wall" down the center of the Rio Grand.

I believe walls across rivers are called dams

Anyone who's been down in the "valley" for any amount of time knows that it's going to be virtually impossible, costly upfront, costly ongoing and very destructive. The valley is a flood plain. What happens to the "wall" when it floods. A flood in AZ knocked out a 21mil section of the wall - 40 feet worth and AZ doesn't flood as much as the valley.

The wall can't run down the Rio Grande, it has to be constructed "inland" on the US side, thus giving land to MX.

@Dougl35534 "The wall can't run down the Rio Grande, it has to be constructed "inland" on the US side, thus giving land to MX." Exactly.

The wall "will" work, prison style, with gunmen every 40 feet. How many thousands of armed guards would that be? Leave the prisoners with just a wall and they will go under or over. And, at its cost it is highly ineffective as, others have pointed out, the majority of illegal aliens enter through legal ports. And, so far, all terrorists have done so as well; terrorists are well financed and don't like to wait.
Under Obama the republicans rejected a border security bill that would have been more sensible and better technology. It would have hired 30k agents and employed drones, aircraft, and ground sensors.

Of course they rejected Obama's plan. Once there is a solution you can't campaign on the problem.

it depends on what you want walls to do. since no one is storming our borders and undocumented residents tend to be people who flew into an airport (didn't walk barefoot across the southern border) with legitimate visas and then overstayed them, and since the people who are SUPPOSED to come to the border and ask for asylum are being tear-gassed, a wall won't do a whole hell of a lot of good. now if you want to keep the sea from overwhelming a town with low elevation, a nice strong wall would work. new orleans could use some help that way. immigrants, legal or otherwise, are not the problem there. actually, they're not really a problem at all.

The meme is bad. The written posts about it all seem true.
