Of the events that happened back during and before World War II, even World War I, there was likely just as much lies by the press as today, and, the victor always writes the history. If you look at the stinking rats in our press today, you can clearly see just how easy they find it to destroy the truth. A lot of shit has been covered up. Churchill was responsible for the same kind of shit Hitler was responsible for, and not just in one country. One of the main things you have to remember is that, when war happens, the citizens of EACH side have a COMPLETE CONVICTION that they have the MORAL HIGH GROUND. For that to happen, there has to be a lot of things that support that belief from their own country / culture-centric point of view. Each side has a very deep belief that they hold the moral high ground, when in fact neither side does. A huge amount of this requires open-minded-perspective, to actually understand how this can happen. The German soldier was just as convinced that he had the moral high ground as the British solder. The evil is perpetuated on both sides, by arrogance, inter-cultural ignorance, linguistic ignorance, and lies. If you read German history, the stage was set for Hitler by the powers who forced a crushing indemnity upon Germany. If you look at the deeds of Hitler, or Churchill, in the end, there really was not much difference between the two . . . . the actions of both resulted in the death of millions. It gets much harder to condemn one side over the other when both sides were just as fucked up. The real cause of the wars were arrogance, inter-cultural ignorance, linguistic ignorance, fame-chasing, back-stabbing, monolithic leadership structures, ideology-chasing, morons who could care less about others of their kind, who in fact dehumanized those they opposed, and dehumanized their own citizens, by sending them to fight in their stead.

A rather morose attitude toward humanity. The same reporting that brought you the lies brought you the truth also or you would not be aware of it. I think I can trust myself to parse the truth in most of what I read and hear and still have respect for not only reporting but the people I trust to run the government. We are all a thousand throws of the emotional dice with built-in preconceived notions of right and wrong, in that light we should be able to understand others through the nuances of their words. In short, although there is great deception in this world, I still choose to believe in people.

What people? The American people? The people in Washington? Unfortunately, I don't think the statistics fall on your side . . . . history clearly testifies to that.

@THHA just people, if you cannot believe in people you spend your life blaming your misery on others

I do not believe in certain people . . . . especially if they are military or politicians. That does not mean I spend my life blaming others. What I do believe in, is what history and statistics will tell us, and that picture is very clear. Mankind is exactly like the captain of the Titanic, he was so cocksure that he could race along and disregard the facts.
Prior to WWI, many believed that there was almost no chance of such an event happening, due to the horrible weapons that had been created . . . . machine guns, ships that could destroy whole cities with but a few shots, artillery that could hurl a one ton projectile five miles. The thought that it would be madness to start a war with such weapons, and, that both the victor and the defeated country would be damaged so bad that it would not be worth it. In the end, they invented even worse weapons, and used them.
Prior to WWII, same story, no one would have guessed that anyone would be stupid enough to use atomic weapons, or fire bombing . . . but that is exactly what happened. It happens because idiots think it will never happen, they go to war, then when things get desperate, they resort to whatever they can get their hands on or invent, and you think that will NOT happen? Feel free to delude yourself, if it makes you feel better.

@THHA and yet we continue forward and progress.

So did the dinosaurs, up to a point. So did the many species that died out that were precursors to homo sapiens . . . . and many other species as well. Man is no different, other than he has the power to destroy himself, and probably will.

@THHA a real student of history would know that we have improved as a society in leaps and bounds over the years. We must come to grips with our failings as humans and see the progress along with dealing with our humanity. To throw up your hands and say it can't be done is giving up. I don't give up.

In what way have we "improved"?

@THHA I always love this part: Healthcare, Social Security (fewer elderly starving), pensions, travel safety, roads, bridges, civil rights, technology and communication, justice and general quality of life.

What exactly in that list will prevent our military and political leaders from destroying the world? You can cite all kinds of progress, but it is in vain when there are weapons that can wipe out humanity in a matter of seconds, worldwide. As long as they are on the planet, statistically speaking, the outcome is a foregone conclusion. Feel free to delude yourself, if it makes you feel better or safer, but no improvement short of getting rid of the nuclear weapons will prevent it from happening.

@THHA I feel sorry for you. All that negativity, no hope, no love, just overwhelming dispair.

So far all I have seen from you is psychological projection . . . attempts to attribute and analyze what I say based on your own inner feelings. You do not know me, so give up the lame attempts to analyze me. It has been noted that you did not attack the point I made instead.

@THHA whatever.
