Ladies: Growing up what did your parents call your vagina? What do you call it to your children? My mom calls it a bug. Which doesn't sit well with me. I find it shameful. My sister says this to her daughters now.

Seriously? Parents commonly refer to their children's private parts? You all have some demented damn parents. My kids were educated both at home and at school and we had the "talk" but we didn't reference their private parts - we talked to them about the biological differences between men and women and how sh-t functions but we never once uttered the words - you're ho ho or bug or any of that other nonsense.

1

My mother never talk me about sex and the only sex education from my father was a lot of sex jokes with raunchy words.

2

I can't remember my parents ever calling it anything. With my kids we used vulva and penis.

According the women in the family, girls had a hoo-ha and boys had a pee-pee (changed to dick once they became teens). This conversation makes me feel like I dodged a bullet by not having kids.

My mother used Japanese words...I had a muncho and my brother had a chipo...right about the time we learned about this, that frigging Frito Lay song came out...Munch, munch, munch upon a Frito...we giggled every time is came on...

My sister and I were taught the medical terminology so it was vagina and penis for my family.

I can't even remember! But I'm all for calling them what they are. Not sure why people think penis and vagina are icky works to say.

The only icky word is "moist" and no one can disagree with that.

I think the word "limp" is icky....

@thinktwice Never thought of that before. I can see that!

@Alimacbean lol worst band never name ever...Limp Bizkit....ha ha ha

@RhondaShotwell Ewwwwww

Nothing. My mother didn't talk like that with me. Or my father.

Private parts. Cause that is what they are.

@OwlInASack Mine weren't either. We just called them that. =0}

When my girls were little the vagina was referred to as 'Your bits'.

And a little extra to this. When my eldest was 2 ish, she would want to have a bath with me. One evening she looked at my nether region and with a quizzical look on her face, then declared 'It's a pig' lol

Haha this is an interesting post... I will answer... My mom said vagina, never any other type of nickname. I have a son and he has a penis. I've called it that ever since he was an infant. No one should be ashamed of their body parts. Just name them what it is actually called.

My mother never referred to it as anything.
We never had "the talk", about anything.
When I was getting close to starting menstruation, she placed an order, and gave me a box from Kimberly-Clark, containing everything I needed to "handle the process".
That was the end of that. Everything else I needed to know, I learned about from reading books on the subjects.

The book I got? Woo.... did not explain much. But my older sisters insist it's better than what they got from Modess. A tiny pamphlet.

Oddly my Mom told me later she figured they'd handle that?

My sisters have apologized for not telling me what was what.

I had a classmate who thought she was dying the first week of her period. Her family thought that was hysterical.

I still think that's tragic.
