We've been marching in place, not evolving one iota. Incredible phenomenon, how small amounts of societal negativity can suck the life out of any hard fought for positivity.

I watched the video, but I don't get the context. Was this a planned organized march that was blocked by the group of kids? If so, the kids were in the wrong. Was this just two different groups who happened to be at the same place at the same time? If so, then the old man beating the drum close to the kid's face was in the wrong.

I think we made progress in the 1960s - 1970s, and in some ways continue to make progress. But there is a divide in this country that is as much intellectual as it is political and economic. The "have-nots," often rural folks, look around and see no "good" job opportunities, and want someone, anyone, to "bring those jobs back home." They don't realize that you no longer get a good job because you have a strong back, but because you have a sharp mind. They don't want to get further training, don't want to encourage their kids to get further skills, and resent seeing other people get ahead (especially minorities) when they DO put in the effort to better themselves. They assume that being concerned about others' feelings and reactions is weakness and "being a snowflake." The anger regarding their diminished prospects spills over toward any element of society that they don't understand. There is a resentment of well-educated people here in the U.S.that I find incomprehensible. It used to be a good thing to be well-educated, and now many people resent it. Weird.

And these 'have nots' never stepped outside the bias of their religious, political or societal 'boxes' enough to experience anything else...so of course they won't 'evolve' past where they've been for the last century. Throw the nonsense and lies of FUX 'Entertainment' Nooze into the mix, and they're hurtling backwards. I'm convinced the only way to turn this misinformation nightmare around is for the FCC to grow some teeth and make broadcasters report a certain percentage of truth in their broadcasts (isn't that sad?) as a condition of their FCC license. I mean, there wouldn't be a 'President Trump' and his hate that enabled these miscreants to come out from under the rocks they shared with the worms most likely if he hadn't had his own media network that wasn't afraid to lie like a rug.
Your characterization of rural citizens having a strong back but not a sharp mind contributes to the problem. Stereotypicification is disingenuous for everyone.
Yeah, feels like we've really regressed, like we are not even staying in place but actually going backwards...

How must Native Americans feel when they've been slapped in the face at most every opportunity by their country and its citizens? Its sickening...and it turns my guts. I'm ashamed.
