I hadn't heard of any of these things... very strange.

Out here in Aussie outback we have a thing known for thousands of years by the Indigenous Peoples as the Min-Min Lights.
They are discs of very pure white light that appear at night, seem to float effortlessly above the ground anything from a few feet to 10 or more feet, they can travel towards you BUT if you move towards them they will retreat slowly and steadily.
They appear either in pairs or singularly, but are definitely NOT vehicle headlights or lanterns, etc, because they always appear in wide open paddocks, around hills, flat grounds where there is only saltbush and scrubby grasses growing. I've seen then quite a number of times and curious thing is that when they appear the night sounds always die away to complete silence until they've gone again.
The Australian Aborigines tell that should someone keep on following a Min-Min eventually that person will disappear and never seen or heard from again.
Not many things get my skin crawling but these Min-Min lights can really make my hair on my arms and back of my neck stand on end.

Australis Borealis?

@azzow2 Nope, seen them also but the Min-Min are pure white lights that appear and disappear usually about 3 to 10 feet above the ground as I said in my early posting.
Completely and entirely different the 'Southern Lights.'

Awesome. My home town has mysterious lights that come out of the desert.

Have you seen the lights yourself?

@BeeHappy yes I have but it took me moving away and coming home to finally see them. The whole time growing up there I never saw them.

@Jeremy77 Soooo, what do you think they are? ?

@BeeHappy if I had to guess probably
Some kind of natural reaction that creates lights. Scientist have studied it and still there is no answer.

It might be too remote for satellite relay.

@azzow2

Great point. But gotta try. Also, if it never comes out to the open, you at least know its going under land.

Since it is in the USA, surely this has already been considered...it would be interesting to know if they already tried or why they have not...I wonder if any type of camera got stuck along the way and never reached an end...broken by hitting rocks?...I bet it just dissipates underground into many rock formations and ends up as part of the water table...cool to wonder...

@thinktwice

Yup.
