Let us hope no one ever clones five Trumps!

So they purposely cloned them with a specific genetic defect so they could have a control group to study the effectiveness of a particular drug for that genetic defect...creating their own lab animals, in effect, without the other genetic variables that could factor into the outcome and success of the drug.

I can see why it would be highly controversial on one hand, especially to those who don't like animals being used for testing, but in reality, the alternative is to prolong the study using humans or other unrelated animals, and then one by one eliminating the other factors...and there would be thousands of variables...a slower process that could hold up a "cure" for suffering humans.

I think it makes formulating an opinion on the ethics of this difficult because the raw emotion creates a negative knee jerk response. It is almost horrifying like a science fiction movie. But it is also exciting science and application of genetic modification.

Science has been wrought with controversy although I suspect not so much in the past because people didn't have access to information and studies and perhaps had no interest...I mean, no one protested hundreds of experiments regarding other genetic studies...(although many were performed on "lower" life forms, amoeba, jellyfish, etc.).

Very interesting to follow this one...thanks...@BryanLV...

The word is that commenting on your own post is looked down on. You can edit your own post and add any thought you might have missed the first time.

Well, frowned upon is fine. I will govern myself accordingly If it is prohibited or disallowed.

Fuck the "word". Who cares. If one actually does care, one is in desperate need of a life.

@BryanLV You do whatever you want. 🙂

@Sticks48 Yea! You go man!

@mzbehavin I need more clarification. The pronouns left me a little confused.

@mzbehavin Thanks for the clarification.

The highly controversial experiment is the first step to creating monkeys with genes edited to cause "diseases" for testing purposes.

There may be some humanitarian implications at play in scenarios like these.
