When people wake up do they choose to be nice and pleasant or sour and grumpy?
Yes they do. Mood is always a choice.
You can ALWAYS reach for a better thought.
I always remember the parents of a dear friend of mine. Both were in their 80's with all the aches and pains that one gets when getting on in years, yet these two people, no matter how they were feeling or what they were going through, when asked how they were doing, would always say "doing good, and enjoying life". I try to remember them when I'm feeling cranky from my arthritis or just out of sorts for whatever reason. I've learned to answer questions of how I'm doing with "doing good, how about you".
I am working on being more intentional about my moods and thoughts in general. It is only somewhat recently I have really seen that I can choose my moods and thoughts, and am not simply--unavoidably--subject to them. I am very happy to have arrived at this awareness, and am looking forward to developing this practice.
Is that where you have been for a while. Nice to have you back.
I asked myself that question today because I was not feeling well and I said do I show how I am feeling to everyone today or do I put on a happy face. I am not sure what I did in the past but I said from now on i will present that happy face no matter how I feel. I do not enjoy grumpy people and I am not going to join their ranks.
