This makes me think of babysitting these two lovely sisters - ages 6 and 8 yo - I sat for them until they were 9 and 11 yo. - and we used to have a great time. They loved having someone a little bit older who paid attention to them.

Their prior sitter had basically ignored them while being paid to be there. They were so thrilled to have someone who liked to engage with them? They remembered me fondly into their adulthood. (Kind of a nice thing right?).

Makes you wonder how many kids suffer at the hands of babysitters alone doesn't it? How many kids don't tell their parents what goes on while they're away. With siblings or relative strangers.

This is a really forced situation where they live together and one had responsibility for the other. And of course the religious involvement. I can't actually remember ever being punished by my parents with it having to do with religion? Which is interesting in retrospect.

Granted kids have taken care of other kids throughout human history - sometimes really well. But this? This sounds like the adults knew and were responsible as well.
It will be interesting to see if there are any changes made to the system to prevent this sort of abuse.

let's even imagine for a wild second that it was REALLY IMPORTANT to know bible verses. i know, it's a stretch, but humor me. imagine it was. why wouldn't someone who really cared about that TEACH the boy some verses instead of murdering him?

"God is Love" is a lie. It first appears on page 907 of a 923 page book, after God has slaughtered tens of millions of men, women, children and animals. Is it no wonder, with this sort of template, that this sort of horror occurs. A 7 year-old was brutally murdered because he didn't learn his Bible verses well enough. Don't tell me these are not REAL TRUE CHRISTIANS. They Are.

This makes me sick of my stomach. I have a 9yo...
So so sad. This teenager took so much advantage of an innocent young boy.
It's so complicated to leave younger kids under teenagers' supervision. So many "things" can happen
