My belief, my faith, my hopes, my trust are all in in Humans. How difficult should that be to get to everyone in the world? Lets establish a 'Belief Exchange'.
If the world could get away from a philsophy that teaches that people are inherently bad, sinful, and evil. That is taught by choice.
I just want to get rid of all philosophy but I realise that I need a philosophy to do that. How is the for a catch 22? I would replace it totally with science thinking.
@Mcflewster am fairly sure that thinking without a philosophy is possible......not sure that having a philosophy, without thinking , is.
Sounds good but there are defective humans like trump.
You do not have to tell me that there are a lot of Imperfect humans about. I just lament at the fact that I am not getting my beliefs to many other people without using any force, lies, delusions or impossible promises.
why? i don't think i need to belong to a group because i think or don't think a certain way regarding the universe. it's not as if we would have rituals, or need to confirm what was or wasn't acceptable to the group. as for believing in humans, anyone can see humans exist. believing in our goodness... well, some people are, some are not, most are a mixture. i don't need to get together with a gang to confirm this!

No of course, as an individual one can survive. On the other hand I do not think religion is going to continue on its downward path without group action. In the UK Humanists have been very upfront in the fight for Human rights. They have just started an assisted dying coalition. How do you feel about agony in your last days?
@Mcflewster i am already having agony. what has that got to do with hanging out with other atheists in a belief exchange? you didn't mention political activity (or assisted dying) when you suggested a belief exchange, and the name belief exchange doesn't hint at either. i am big on fighting for human rights. i don't need a belief exchange for that. my interest in human rights has nothing whatsoever to do with belief except to the extent that we should have the right not to be imposed upon by the religious beliefs of others. in the states, where i live, we have the freedom from religion foundation. they don't sit around talking about how they do or don't believe. they don't exchange beliefs, and their purpose isn't even to stop other people from being religious. they work to recover and maintain freedom of and from religion, separation of church and state. as for religion's continuing its downward spiral, i don't care at ALL what i care about is that on its way down, or even on its way back up, it is prevented from legislating, executing and adjudicating its way into my life and the lives of others. what people believe on their own time is their business -- just as my last days, and how i feel about them, are mine.

I can't go along with that.
I don't like people, in general.
I'm always hoping for an asteroid to wipe us all out.
Plus, using words like "faith" and "belief" is far too religious-sounding for
my tastes.
Sounds like you're trying to start a cult.
LOL! You certainly beat my level of misanthropy. I don't like people in general, but I certainly do not hope for an asteroid to wipe us all out.
Cult, like a religion, is a set of shared delusions (with or without someone actively exploiting it). I think to some degree we all belong to one or two.
I think there are a great many people who think like you and I know other people have read too much into faith and belief. I do however think that all Humans have a use for the word faith and it is nothing to do with religion so we must be careful before we destroy it. Belief ? well what ever we do people will believe what they want to and there is a clue in that somewhere. Cult? I cannot start the movement that I want to see happen world wide because some others have done it for me - people like Darwin and Bertrand Russel.
