So speeding up the laps should help?
@BeeHappy presumably burn more calories but I'm not sure that the dugong was made for speed so your comment and meme still hold good. Considering how long they have existed and the living conditions it does suggest an abortion of evolution - I could understand it if in cold water or uncertain food resources but it lives in nice warm water on sea meadows plentiful with grass.
I suspect that the "Jack Spratt would eat no fat..." Nursery rhyme was a reflection of commonplace reality born out of necessity.
