It happened again. I thought that I had at least the beginnings of a relationship. Not. I'm just a hard working guy. Why is it that every lady that seems to take an interest in me ends up picking my pocket and going away? I live within 100 miles of 3 cities, and within 250 of much of the population of the Northeastern US. Why is this so hard? Rant over.

So sorry to hear that Bob ! I was picked clean after my husband died, so you haven't seen the worst of it, and he left me well off, but not anymore.

Well Bob, it's not easy for anybody, anywhere. Can't provide the "why" part without more information and even then would be wrong for sure. Your only comment, "...picking my pocket and going away?", is a little odd but it leads me to believe maybe you are too eager to buy stuff for these ladies...? It might be that they see you as a father figure (who pays for everything) rather than a partner. You know the value of free advice!

Are you allowing yourself to be too vulnerable too soon ?

"Picking your pocket"???? Why would you not immediately vanish at Any mention of money whatsoever? A real relationship will Never be based on "what can you do for me"!

All my ex's had substance problems and needed me to keep them sober.

I finally realized that the reason it kept happening was because I kept choosing the same kind of people.

Certain personality traits attract us and sometimes those traits are a just a mask

Or my case, they were better looking than me for the most part

In my case, it has been physically attractive women over 10 years younger than myself.

Maybe you pick the wrong women.

I agree, & not at all in a blaming way either. I used to end up in similar situations, with abuse as well, yet I was blind to how it kept happening. Counseling helped me immensely--you might want to consider it.
