I'm an old guy on a bullet train to becoming my father. (And not in the good ways.) One of things he did was rail against the advancing youth culture. He was sure everything was in utter decline. He listened to Artie Shaw for at least 70 years. That was some deep ass rut, Dad.
Anyway, I've an adult daughter who loves music and we share things. I'm trying to not spend my twilight years listening to the 70's, 80's, and even the 90's again and again as the sun drops on me. She brought this to my attention recently. I wasn't sure about the ones she sent but I loved this one.
I've been listening to it in continuous rotation this morning. I'd make it my theme song but that'd probably not be a good idea. No One's Easy to Love: Oh sistah, yes! The lyrics go awkward on occasion (I'm so glad my college poetry isn't around for people to read!) but overall it's brilliant.
No one is easy. Word!
The best thing about having a teenage son is listening to his generation's music. It's as least as good as my generation's. We listen to the 70s station and marvel that such dreck was written, performed, and thrust upon us. My generation is responsible for Billy Joel. We can never live that down.
couldn't understand her. but i'm sure there's a message there.
i sometimes regret that i never kept up with music really since the 80s.
now listen to mostly classical. also spanish guitar, french tango, greek.
but i do go back to queen, neil young & a few others occasionally. just kinda redicovered rita coolidge recently. what a terrific one of a kind voice.
