Christian: If there's no god, then what's your purpose in life?

Me: My purpose in life is to try and teach Christians about Jesus. And if there's time after that, talk about science over martinis.

Is it time for science and martinis? I mentioned evolution to my sister in law and had to explain Darwin. She didn't recall ever learning about the theory.
She does believe that Judge Jeanine Pirro should replace RBG. Family...some of them are just so fucking adorable. ?

I could definitely go for a good martini.

My purpose is to do my best to dispell the utter nonsense that people pushing religion spread like so much toxic manure.

Nothing like having a really ambitious plan, but I should make a few small ones as well , it is hard to loose all the time.

That's why I include martinis... Otherwise... well, I don't want to think about the otherwise.

And what do you want to teach Christians about Jesus ?. That he probably never existed ?. Good luck with that

Yah, that's an argument that should be rejected out of hand. The idea behind skepticism is the NULL positions. Saying that Jesus didn't exist is as fundamentalist as saying he did.

@Benthoven I said "probably". So what are you going to teach Christians about Jesus ?. Please enlighten us.

@Moravian: You did notice this was posted under "Silly, Random & Fun," did you not?

And rather than "probably," I just take the null position. It could go either way. I choose the most sacred of all scientific answers: "I don't know."

That being said, there is a guy talked about in the four Canonical Gospels, they call him Jesus, and nearly a billion people claim to worship him... as he's portrayed in these gospels. Yet they seem to know very little about the man the gospels portray... real or not.

That Jesus was a loyal Jew. And would not have approved of Paul taking his plan to the gentiles?

@Benthoven Possibly they know very little about the man "real or otherwise" because the only evidence we have of his life is from four contradictory gospels written many years after his "lifetime"

@Moravian That's not the only evidence. Again... NULL... And again, real or not, he exists in the minds of a billion people. Again, "Silly, Random & Fun"

Santa Claus exists in the minds of millions of children but it doesn't make him real, As far as I am aware all other "evidence" of an earthly Jesus has been discredited but you may know otherwise .

Just because you post something on "silly, random and fun" doesn't mean you can make "serious" unsubstantiated comments and get away with it.

Great. So how has it been going so far with the Christians?

It's easier to talk to a German Shepherd about quantum physics. But at least the dog has the courtesy to acknowledge he doesn't know what you're talking about.

I hear they want the earth to die?
